With tickets for Marvel Studios' Black Panther now officially on sale, IMAX has announced that select scenes from the film will be specially formatted for the big screen.

According to the official announcement, "Director Ryan Coogler designed several sequences of the movie to fill more of the screen at an expanded IMAX 1.9:1 aspect ratio, providing fans with 26% more of the image in IMAX than standard theatres."

I don't care what anyone says, I am proud that Disney and Marvel have such talented directors like the Russo brothers, and they did such an amazing job of introducing a character who has shot up to, in my opinion, an A list hero with only a cameo from another movie. Now they have let Ryan Coogler take the reigns and introduce us to this Afro-futuristic world and it looks like he only upped the ante. I applaud Marvel for allowing their directors to have such creative freedom.

Not sure why you'd go see a movie simply to be in the audience? Maybe hype/entertainment via proxy i guess... but meh.

I think the visuals for this movie have been some of the BEST OF THE MCU! Would never have thought I'd feel this much hype for a character i know so little about. I haven't really watched a trailer since the first one, but the images have me in awe of this movie. It looks like Lion King meets Guardians of the Galaxy, and where Marvel has taken their films, I seriously think they have stepped their game up since GOTG.

Dr. Strange
Thor Ragnarok
Black Panther
Civil War

They fear not the weird or colorful anymore, and to see the General Audience be so receptive to the output from the directors and creators has been a delight. It's given Marvel a confidence with all the decisions they make, which a lot of other studio's seem to lack right now. I truly hope were not on the cusp of the CBM bubble, because I could watch GOOD comic films forever and think the story potential is really just getting started.

C'mon Feige/Russos, you're my only hope!

"They fear not the weird or colorful anymore"

They never did before - the only time remotely you could say that is the Mandarin twist in Iron Man 3... and even then that was because they did not want to offend a segment of the audience that they could milk for profits.

I agree that they are likely pleased with how the audience have been responding to the movies, but it still remains a situation of if one of these movies messes up then it'll break the chain.

"I think the visuals for this movie have been some of the BEST OF THE MCU!"

Not really, the visuals have all been done before in other movies and arguably done better elsewhere. There is a level of uniqueness given that the magical futuristic city is in Africa this time, but that does not make the movie visually appealing for anything other than tribal aspects.

I'd also question why making everything purple tinged in Black Panther could remotely be called 'some of the BEST OF THE MCU' - especially when the Netflix shows handled that concept better.

"It looks like Lion King meets Guardians of the Galaxy"

Spoken like someone who has not seen the Lion King in a long time and simply thinks one scene of someone walking to a tree under a star-filled sky is equal to the Lion King. That imagery has been used everywhere.

Even Lion King itself is a rip-off of Kimba the White Lion. Regardless, nothing else in Black Panther remotely looks like Lion King.

@Scarilian - Dude... the guy said he THINKS they are some of the best visuals in the MCU. It's his opinion. It's one thing to disagree with someone, but it's another thing entirely to whine and attack someone else's opinion and state yours as if they're hard facts.

I mean congratulations, you literally whined about another opinion because it's not the same as yours, then went on some tangent about Kimba the White Lion. You're acting like your feelings are personally hurt by some guy's very harmless opinion. [frick]ing chill.

@xfan320 - you made a point. These movies are just weirder and better. You know the GA root for the MCU because they feel the confidence Feige and co. have.

Yep, just 10 years ago, we thought Iron Man was a big risk...then Thor...then Captain America...then the Avengers...then Ant Man...Then GOTG...then Dr. Strange...

I've learned just to trust Marvel at this point, because they are consistently able to defy expectations (Even negative ones!) I have NEVER left the theater upset with the movie's they release. Even their weakest entries are incredibly entertaining and feasts for the eyes.

I'll see you guys at the Multiplex!

@BlindWedjat -

I agreed with them on several aspects even stating 'I agree' and 'There is a level of uniqueness' both supporting two of the main points made by xfan320. As such pretty much all your remarks are from a point of ignorance.

I brought up Kimba as an example of one of the points i made in my comment and how similar visuals for a specific scene do not justify saying it is the same movie.

Lion King being a rip-off of Kimba does not mean that Kimba has the exact same plot and is automatically Lion King. This is why i normally expand on my points because as shown here, you either ignored or misunderstood what was said.

@xfan320 -

Yeah, it's one of the reasons i enjoy the Marvel movies. They are always interesting from a visual and story standpoint even the ones that i'd consider weaker than others - i've never had a negative experience with them.
