SUICIDE SQUAD Star Will Smith Praises BLACK PANTHER And Says It Nearly Brought Him To Tears

Black Panther is being hailed as a masterpiece and regardless of whether or not you agree with that statement, there's no denying that it's a game changer. Here, Will Smith explains why it's so important.

Black Panther is breaking box office records and making history and it's clear now that Marvel's latest movie is important for a long list of reasons. Those are highlighted by Suicide Squad star Will Smith in the Instagram post below which sees the actor praise the movie's cast and crew before going on to explain why it nearly brought him to tears and why it should be a game-changer in Hollywood.

"What you have done is spectacular," he says. "I watched the film a couple of days ago and damn near got brought to tears. You guys have challenged and potentially even shattered a lot of long-time, long-held, false Hollywood beliefs and paradigms. I just wanna say congratulations to you. I'm proud, I'm excited, damn near giddy. Congrats, ya'll." So, when is Smith going to join the MCU?

Despite the fact that he ends the video by crossing his fists over his chest, the actor is expected to reprise the role of Deadshot in Suicide Squad 2, so he's definitely not done with the DC Films Universe quite yet. It is, of course, possible that he'll join the Black Panther franchise or another Marvel series at some point but time will tell on that front. Be sure to watch the video for Smith's full comments.

I want to share something that Nelson Mandela said to me. . He said, “With the type of fame that you have attained it is important when you encounter your fans that you — Reach Your Hand Out and let them Feel Your Flesh. You have to prove to them that you are REAL — because people can not aspire to anything they do not believe is Real.” . So I say to you, Congratulations! Enjoy this Transcendent Moment. Go into the streets... Touch them... Let them know that you are real! . @chadwickboseman, @michaelbjordan @lupitanyongo @letitiawright @danaigurira @danielkaluuya @im.angelabassett @andyserkis @winstoncduke @sterlingkbrown @rmorrison @therealstanlee @ludwiggoransson @iamruthecarter #blackpanther . With Pure Delight WILL :-)

Dayum. If BP was made in the 90's, Will Smith would've been the perfect T'challa in all honesty.

Could there be a villain role out there for him you think? Some american black tycoon/entrepreneur who wants the secrets of wakanda or sees wakanda as a threat to the america people potentially??

Could see him in that sort of role??

@Ragnarocknroll - Imagined it...i like it...time to make it happen hahah.

But they'd have to make harry osbourne black and then make him petes friend ...sadly would be too much uproar from "the masses".

@OptimusGrime - I really don’t think marvel cares about that even a little bit, homecoming was full of race-changes.

I’m excited about this, hope it means better things to come from Hollywood and beyond. It sounds like the people who developed it and made it possible for Ryan and co to make the movie they wanted to make had their hearts in the right place. But make no mistake, a bunch of white people just made a ton of money out of this.

@TedDanson - Really fricking true...they made the money ...but hopefully black people have accrued something slightly more important for the time being ..status and recognition...

Why the [frick] does Will Smith have grey hair? He can’t be getting old. That would mean I’m getting old. You ain’t old Fresh Prince

Please tell me he’s grey because of a film role. Or maybe because of the pain of Suicide Squad. I mean shit, Suicide Squad gave me a receding hairline
