Marvel Studios has released some new behind-the-scenes stills for Black Widow, and these offer a cool look at how some key scenes in the movie were put together by director Cate Shortland.
Black Widow was obviously shot prior to the pandemic, and has been sitting inside Marvel's headquarters completed for well over a year now. Thankfully, with the world slowly starting to open up as vaccines roll out across the globe, it will receive a theatrical release just a few weeks from now. However, for those of you not ready to return to theaters, you'll also be able to watch at home.
The social media reactions will arrive at 9am PT today, so you'll want to give me a follow on Twitter @Josh_Wilding to see what I made of the first Marvel Studios movie to be released since 2019. Then, check back here shortly after for a roundup of what everyone else who's seen it thinks.
"In Marvel Studios' Black Widow, Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises," reads the movie's synopsis. "Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger."
In the movie, Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Natasha/Black Widow, Florence Pugh stars as Yelena, David Harbour portrays Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz is Melina. Black Widow is directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige; Black Widow - the first big screen story in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe - arrives on July 9th both in theaters and on Disney+.
