BLACK WIDOW Movie Reportedly Looking To Cast A “Tough, Dangerous And Mysterious” Villain

Production on Marvel's Black Widow movie is expected to get underway very soon, and an updated character breakdown suggests that the film is now looking to cast a "black British or African" villain...

The original character breakdowns for Black Widow were pretty vague, but they did mention that Marvel Studios and director Cate Shortland were searching for an "exciting" actor of any ethnicity in his 40s to play the main antagonist. However, it looks like things have changed somewhat on that front after the recent script rewrites from Ned Benson.

According to That Hashtag Show, they're now looking to cast a "Black British or African actor, 30-45, to portray a tough, dangerous and mysterious villain."

There's been speculation that the baddie might be a Russian character such as Crimson Dynamo or Red Guardians, but that now seems unlikely. Taskmaster, perhaps?

With cameras set to roll on the solo Black Widow movie in just a few months time we should start to hear casting news very soon, so keep an eye on CBM for updates. In the meantime, let us know who you think this mysterious villain might be in the comments.

"to portray a tough, dangerous and mysterious villain."

Ummm, isn't that pretty much the aim for any villain?

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - it is? Im writing all my villains as pathetic, safe, and well known. Are you saying thats the wrong way to go?

Casting Taskmaster would make everyone go from "who asked for this movie"? to people being incredibly intrigued by this movie real quick.

@HeavyMetal4Life - For TaskMaster I would go with Charlie Hunnam or Keanu Reeves.

@SonOfAGif - I can't see Keanu in that role, but Charlie could work. We know that Marvel is trying to get Keanu in the MCU, he was almost cast as Yon-Rogg.

@HeavyMetal4Life - His design in that game was so well-done.

I had the hardest time getting Gold on all those missions having to sneak around.

Taskmaster is an awesome villain and would be a great fit for Black Widow.

@MrDandy - he'd technically wipe the floor with her especially since she doesn't have the serum in the MCU but he is a great villain.

@knocturnalzen10 - On paper Taskmaster should be able to kick the shit out of a LOT of characters.

Unfortunately, I can't think of a single time that he's beaten anyone.

He's the coolest villain to never do anything cool in the history of comics.

@CorndogBurglar - that's really depressing

@knocturnalzen10 - who is to say she didn't get some serum earlier in her Red Room training and that it seems to have worn off due to its poor formulation?

@MyCoolYoung - Yes. Yes it is.

Think about it. He has the ability to perfectly copy any move that he sees someone else do. He's fought pretty much every heavy hitter in all of Marvel.

So he can do anything that he's seen Spider-Man, Daredevil, Captain America, and Wolverine do. The best fighters in all of Marvel. And he's fought them all. So he's got all of their moves stored in his mind and can do them any time he wants. Yet he never beats anyone. It's a bit ridiculous.

@CorndogBurglar - depressing and pathetic
Lol so do you think he's not written well enough? I mean I know heroes usually win in the end (usually) but c'mon that's like the ultimate "power" -
