Black Widow may have been knocked off the top spot by Space Jam: A New Legacy in North America, but the Marvel Studios movie managed to stay #1 internationally this weekend.
After grossing an additional $29.9 million from 48 markets (a 55% drop from the previous week), the overseas total now stands at $132 million for a global haul of $264 million. Disney hasn't announced any additional streaming figures after touting that big "Premier Access" debut, but chances are many fans have opted to pay that $29.99 to enjoy the movie from the comfort and safety of home.
Black Widow still hasn't secured a release date in China, which is bound to hurt its chances of financial success on a worldwide level over the weeks to come.
That's evident from how well F9: The Fast Saga is doing; after scoring $28.6 million internationally this weekend, it's nearing $600 million globally with $591.2 million. Despite all the negatives of the COVID-19 pandemic, the sequel is on par with where Hobbs & Shaw was at the same point in its release.
The latest Fast & Furious movie still hasn't been given a Digital release, making theaters the only way it can be watched right now. Black Widow, on the other hand, topped the charts on Torrent Freak becoming the most pirated movie of last week (password sharing on Disney+ is also problematic).
Did you guys head to theaters this weekend? If so, what did you decide to watch?
