Scarlett Johansson is reportedly set to star in Disney's Tower of Terror, which is based on the classic theme park ride with the free-fall drop.
Collider reports that the Avengers: Endgame star will play the lead, and has also boarded the project as a producer via her company These Pictures company. Inside Out writer Josh Cooley is currently working on the script, but no one has been officially attached to helm. Disney will reportedly "aim high" when it comes to signing a director, however.
Plot details are under wraps, but based on the premise of the ride, we assume this will be a fun, horror-tinged adventure in the same vein as the Pirates of the Caribbean movies or the upcoming Jungle Cruise. A Tower of Terror TV movie starring Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst was actually released back in 1997.
Johansson will soon reprise her most iconic role as Natasha Romanoff (for the last time, most likely) in Cate Shortland's Black Widow movie, and Tower of Terror might well signal the beginning of another blockbuster franchise for the highly in-demand actress. Johansson is also said to be attached to star opposite Taron Egerton in Warner Bros.' Little Shop of Horrors remake.
