Marvel Legend Stan Lee Hints That A BLACK WIDOW Solo Movie Is Going To Happen

Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow will be appearing in her sixth MCU film when Avengers: Infinity War hits theatres next summer, but will she ever get her own movie? Stan Lee certainly thinks so...

While Black Widow has been a staple in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since she made her first appearance in Iron Man 2 seven years ago, she's one of the handful of Avengers who hasn't been given her own movie.

However, a certain comic book icon says that is bound to change sometime in the future.

During a press event at Supanova Comic-Con in Brisbane, Australia, legendary Marvel Comics writer Stan Lee was asked by a reporter about whether he'd like to see a Black Widow movie. Lee simply answered: "one day there will be a Black Widow movie."

While Lee isn't exactly in charge of what Marvel characters get their own movies, his answer is still pretty significant since he is...Stan Lee. The MCU plans on releasing its first female-lead solo movie, Captain Marvel, in 2019, and with the success of this year's Wonder Woman, it's no surprise that the studio would be feeling more confident about investing in female heroes.

Since we've already been given some interesting details about Natasha Romanoff's backstory in Avengers: Age of Ultron, there is a possibility that the character would be given an origin story. However, with so many heroes in the MCU, there's also lots of potential for a team up with another overshadowed Avenger.

However, while Lee seemed pretty confident that a Black Widow movie will happen at some point, he was pretty vague about the time frame.

Do you think Stan Lee's comments are based on some inside information, or is he just being hopeful that this great character will get her own film? Comment below.

I wonder how the story would go, what time period it would be in and who the villain would be. It certainly sounds interesting. Would Joss Whedon still want to direct this?

@MeAreLegend - I would prefer the all female hero ensemble vs. Amora the Enchantress.

I hope not... She's not really interesting to me in the movies.

YES. Her movie could be amazing. Have her take down the Red Room.

I just want a Black Widow/Hawkeye movie that explains why they remember Budapest very differently.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - And maybe we'll see how she loses the Millenium Falcon to Lando and how it does the Kesel Run in less than twelve parsecs. And I wouldn't mind a scientific explanation for the Force, while we're at it.
