With Phase Five fully underway, Deadline has learned a key piece of casting news for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as they're now reporting that English actress Mia Goth (X; Pearl) has joined the cast of Marvel Studios' Blade.
No details on her part just yet, but it's rumored that she'll be playing Dracula's daughter Lilith.
She joins a cast headlined by 2x Academy Award-winner Mahershala Ali (Luke Cage; Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) as the titular vampire hunter, with Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods; The Harder They Fall), Aaron Pierre (Old; Krypton), and Milan Ray (Charm City Kings; The Wonder Years) rounding out the supporting cast.
Kit Harington (Game of Thrones; Eternals) was also rumored to be part of the cast, but a recent report has made it somewhat unclear whether he will return as the Black Knight in this feature or a future Marvel adventure.
Plot details remain under wraps, but filming is tentatively scheduled to begin in May/June, so expect more casting news in the coming weeks.
Primetime Emmy-nominee Yann Demange (White Boy Rick; Lovecraft Country) is directing the feature, with a screenplay from Emmy-nominated screenwriter Michael Starrbury (When They See Us; Legends of Chamberlain Heights).
Bassam Tariq was previously attached to direct, before stepping down last September. Stacy Osei-Kuffour and Beau DeMayo wrote prior versions of the script, but it's believed that Starrbury started from scratch and wrote an all-new iteration that has presumably now been approved by both the studio and Ali.
Goth is best known for her role in the X slasher film series, namely X and Pearl, which both released last year and were critical and commercial successes. She's set to reprise her part as Maxine Minx in the franchise's upcoming third and final installment MaXXXine. Her other credits include, but are not limited to, Nymphomaniac, Everest, A Cure for Wellness, Suspiria, High Life, Emma, and Infinity Pool.
Blade is set to hit theaters on September 6, 2024.
