Last week, Blue Beetle actor George Lopez shared an Instagram photo will fellow cast members Xolo Maridueña, Harvey Guillén and director Ángel Manuel Soto, promising his followers that the first trailer is "coming soon."
Now, a new report from reliable scooper Daniel Richtman is claiming that the teaser, which is expected to run for 2 minutes and 27 seconds, will be released online this coming Monday, April 3.
If accurate, Warner Bros. will likely make an official announcement - possibly with a trailer tease or new poster - over the weekend.
Originally developed for the HBO Max streaming service, fans grew concerned that Blue Beetle may suffer the same fate as the recently cancelled Batgirl, but the movie was given a theatrical release date shortly after Warner Bros. was acquired by Discovery.
"Recent college grad Jaime Reyes (Xolo Mariduena) returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it," reads the synopsis. "As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab." "When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armour capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle."
The cast also includes Susan Sarandon, Bruna Marquezine, Belissa Escobedo, Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo, Damián Alcázar, and Raoul Max Trujillo.
Blue Beetle is set to be released in theaters on August 18, 2023.
