"Jamie Reyes is a superhero... whether he likes it or not."
DC Studios has confirmed that the first trailer for the upcoming Blue Beetle movie will be online tomorrow, and you can check out a brief announcement teaser below.
These pre-trailer promos usually contain a few snippets of footage, but Warner Bros. has decided to be stingy with this one! Some graphics, an updated logo and a few bars of "Just Wanna Rock" by Lil Uzi Vert is your lot for now.
Update: Well, we spoke too soon!
Originally developed for the HBO Max streaming service, fans grew concerned that Blue Beetle may suffer the same fate as the recently cancelled Batgirl, but the movie was given a theatrical release date shortly after Warner Bros. was acquired by Discovery.
"Recent college grad Jaime Reyes (Xolo Mariduena) returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it," reads the synopsis. "As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab."
"When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armour capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle."
The cast also includes Susan Sarandon, Bruna Marquezine, Belissa Escobedo, Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo, Damián Alcázar, and Raoul Max Trujillo.
Blue Beetle is set to be released in theaters on August 18, 2023.
