BLUE BEETLE Jaime Reyes Movie Reportedly In Development At Warner Bros.
Warner Bros. & DC Entertainment are reportedly developing a big-screen outing for Jaime Reyes, who was the third character to take up the mantle of Blue Beetle in the comics. Find out more after the jump.
According to The Wrap, there's a Blue Beetle movie in development at Warner Bros. that'll focus on the third incarnation of the DC Comics superhero, Jaime Reyes.
Scarface reboot scribe Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer has reportedly been tapped to write the script, while Zev Foreman is on board as executive producer for the studio.
Reyes was introduced back in 2006's Infinite Crisis, and is the third character to take up the mantle of Blue Beetle after after Dan Garret and Ted Kord - although he's arguably eclipsed both in popularity since. The Mexican-American teenager will become the first Latino superhero to headline his own movie in the DCEU.
Though there may be some purists that would have preferred to see Kord introduced first, this is a smart move by WB. The new teenage take on Spider-Man has been a huge success for Marvel, after all, and the DC Films Universe (seriously, does it have an official name yet?) doesn't currently have a character that will appeal more to a slightly younger demographic on its roster.
There are no other details on the Blue Beetle movie at present, but keep an eye on CBM for updates and let us know what you think about this news in the usual place.
