BOOSTER GOLD: Three Names Emerge As Rumored Frontrunners, Including Action Movie Legend's Son

With Booster Gold reportedly taking shape at DC Studios, a new rumour claims to reveal who will play the character in the new DCU. You can find the names of the three supposed frontrunners after the jump!

DC Studios has cast Superman and Supergirl, leaving us to wonder who's next. Lanterns appears to be taking shape, while Booster Gold is also said to be close to starting production (rumour has it the title character has secretly been cast).

While we strongly recommend taking the following with a pinch of salt given the source, Film Front claims to have learned who the three frontrunners are to play the DCU's Booster Gold.

Bigger stories than this have been broken by smaller outlets in the past, and that's why we're not completely dismissing the story!

According to the site, Dylan Playfair, Fionn Whitehead, and Patrick Schwarzenegger are all screen-testing for the role of Booster. It's unclear which of them has potentially been cast or even whether any of them are still in the running.

Playfair is best known for his work in Letterkenny and the Descendants franchise. Whitehead, meanwhile, has made a name for himself in Dunkirk, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, and Great Expectations

As for Schwarzenegger, he's the son of screen icon Arnold Schwarzenegger and has established himself as a star in his own right courtesy of standout roles in The Terminal List and Gen V.

If these names are anything to go by, DC Studios is on the hunt for a younger Booster Gold. If there's no truth to this rumour, James Gunn will surely debunk it before the day is out.

The filmmaker has previously said the comedy series will explore "imposter syndrome as a superhero." DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran has described the character as "a loser from the future who uses basic future technology to come back to today" and pretends to be a superhero.

Booster Gold was created by writer Dan Jurgens and first appeared in Booster Gold #1 in 1986. His real name is Michael Jon Carter, a former football star from the 25th century who becomes a time-traveling hero.

Carter, disillusioned by his lack of success and fame in his own time, steals advanced technology, including a powered suit and a robotic sidekick named Skeets, and travels back to the 20th century to become a superhero. Initially motivated by fame and fortune, Booster Gold eventually matures into a genuine hero, using his abilities to protect the innocent and uphold justice.

Known for his witty personality, penchant for self-promotion, and often portrayed as a lovable, albeit flawed character, he's been a member of various superhero teams, including the Justice League.

As always, stay tuned for updates on Booster Gold as we have them.

P. Schwarzenegger has done OK in the small roles i've seen him in, but i'm still unsure about him for this.

@Origame - dont know if he fits booster but im all for more canadian actors getting the big time. Although if we are going booster i think the guy who plays wayne fits better.

I don’t remember Patrick in Terminal List at all.

Dude. They already messed it up with casting Nathon Fillion as Guy Gardner. He'll do a good job I'm sure but the guy I always wanted as Guy was Alan Ritchson. Dude's got experience in seriousness and flat-out fratboy comedy with his stint in BMS (if you've never seen it you'll laugh your but off watching Alan).

Then, Nathan Fillion would be perfect for Booster Gold simply because of his "Captain Hammer" role in Joss Whedon's writer's strike short film.

If true then out of the 3 , I think Patrick Schwarzenegger would be my pick…

He’s done well imo from the work I’ve seen of his , not familiar with Playfair and I don’t see Whitehead as Booster so that’s it.

Granted , it’s a rumor and a conflicting one at that since apparently Booster has been already cast so we’ll see.

Patrick Schwarzenegger has got my vote

Surprised how young they seem to be going , the actors range from 26-32 though I guess it makes sense since he’s suppose to be a washed up college football star (if that’s the backstory they go with)…

My picks were a bit older , I could have seen Glen Powell or Billy Magnussen in the role

I hope as the series progresses , it takes some influence from the Geoff Johns & Dan Jurgens run…

It’s a run I really enjoyed and showed how good of a character Booster can be.

Arnold is like my favorite actor of all time, my entire childhood was watching every one of his movies over and over and over. Last Action Hero is my favorite movie of all time!

Wait is comicbookmovie.com actually showing images of these casting choices instead of assuming we know them somehow?

Playfair would be great. But when I saw Letterkeny I immediately thought the main character at first and thought that would have been perfect.

I like the suggestions of @TheVisionary25, @MrDarcy and @Superspecialawesomeguy. I was thinking Powell for Booster Gold as well, and Miles Teller opposite him would be fun. Billy Magnussen could work too, but I kinda wanna see him as Barry Allen.

Aren’t all super heroes pretending to be a super hero until they prove to be a “hero” and show they really are “super”?
Just like BGA..

Doing this before doing so many other much more important characters is just ridiculous.

Save the goofy stuff for after the new NCU is a firmly established success.

Dylan Playfair, based purely on look, is the only one, that seems better to me. But eh. My fancast was leaning more on Glen Powell.

Massive mistake, booster is light, sidekick stuff, why do this now, when you don't have your primary universe establish. I would dump it and have 1 lantern, not the core with multiple Lanters, that's what they did in the shit green lantern 2011 movie. Concentrate on Hal J. and his power and will, explore that, establish that first and then expand. Gun is making the same mistake that GL 2011 did. Build out your primary hero's, the JL and then expand, like Huntress, Green arrow, captain atom, Black Canary, star girl, Zatanna, hackman, they have tons of better characters and they choose a stooge.

Dylan Playfair is giving the right vibes and also looks for Booster Gold in that picture.
