CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 Is Marvel's Second-Longest Movie

With Captain America: The Winter Soldier approaching its release date, the official run-time has been revealed, suggesting that the sequel is Marvel Studios' second-longest outing. Check it out!

Considering directors Anthony & Joe Russo began editing as they were filming, and not to mention the positive word of mouth from test screening earlier this year, it's safe to say Marvel Studios has had a decent rough cut of Captain America: The Winter Soldier for some time now. However, with the inclusion of January's reshoots, we've now received official word from Stitch Kingdom that a final cut of the Marvel sequel has been signed, sealed, and delivered with a decent running time of 2 hours and 16 minutes. This makes the upcoming political thriller the longest "Phase Two" movie so far, and second-longest of all the Marvel Cinematic Universe ventures, following The Avengers (143 minutes). Anyhow, expect a Captain America: The Winter Soldier marketing push––clips, more posters & TV spots, talk show guest appearances, etc––as we move into March. What do you think?

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy — the Winter Soldier. Starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp and Maximiliano Hernández with Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is directed by the team of Anthony & Joe Russo from a screenplay written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Alan Fine, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee. The creative production team on the film includes director of photography Trent Opaloch, production designer Peter Wenham, editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. and Mary Jo Markey, A.C.E. and three time Oscar®-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is set for release on April 4, 2014.

I am so stoked. I hope more screenings lead to a great buzz for the film and that the international release gets great word of mouth so that Cap2 has an amazing opening weekend at the box office. ONE BILLIONNNN (seems unlikely but we can hope anyways)!

This is good news to me. Most mediocre CBM have always been less than 2 hours so this is a good sign I think.

@Soto I would love that but tbh it's unlikely. Cap doesn't do well overseas. Cap's numbers will primarily come from the Domestic gross, which I'm hoping will be a lot. I think the second movie might appeal to the worldwide audience because of the Avengers, but I'm not holding my breath. You never know though, if the movie is good enough, anything can happen.

i think the highest grossing superhero movies will be in this order:

The Amazing Spiderman 2( cause spidey is immensely popular and the last one made tons of moolah)

Captain America:The Winter Soldier( cap is a pretty popular character now, the buzz around the film is great right now so yeah)

Guardians of the galaxy(i know u guys must be like" that dude is crazy" but hear me out: seeing how big of a response the trailer go and i aREALLY positive one at that, sure some people are on the fence on it still ,they will go to still see it because of the curiosity level, plus the MARVEL brand is huge right now so atleast that will hive ti a good opening, but it will sustain and grown on good word of mouth imo)

X Men days of future past( the x men movies havent made big money recently, they have been successful but they ahvent been big and i think that will continue for this installment)

JUST MY TWO CENTS!!

But GOTG looks like crap! Gamora looks [frick]ing terrible! What's with the shitty slow-mo shots? And WTF is with Cooper's voice! It's suppose to be British! First Marvel disappointment.

I see about $600, give or take. The intake of Thor 2 has shown the public isn't exactly Avenger Crazy, as they are Iron Man Crazy. And to their credit, IM3 had a fantastic marketing team
