The Russo Brothers Want WOLVERINE In The MCU; Seem Confident That A BLACK WIDOW Movie Will Happen
In a new interview, the Civil War directors share their thoughts on the possibility of some of their favorite Marvel characters joining the MCU, and the likelihood of a solo Black Widow adventure...
Collider caught up with Captain America: Civil War directors Joe and Anthony Russo, and chatted about a variety of subjects relating to their love of comic books and their latest big screen Marvel outing, as well as which new characters they'd bring on board if they could.
The brothers' favorite superhero growing up was Spider-Man, so they were delighted to be able to integrate him into the MCU - but their second favorite, Wolverine, might prove a bit more difficult. On the more obscure character spectrum, they'd also fancy a crack at Groo the Wanderer, and the Great Lakes Avengers.
Hey, these days anything seems possible!
Following the recent Fandango poll, The Russos were also quizzed about the possibility of ever seeing a solo outing for Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow. From the sounds of their response they reckon it will happen sooner or later, it's just a matter of getting in on the schedule.
ANTHONY RUSSO: It’s a no-brainer, right?
JOE RUSSO: I don’t think [it’ll take] much. I think it’s just a function of where on the slate it goes. She’s a bad-ass.
That Black Widow movie is a lot more likely to happen than Logan suiting up with The Avengers - but then again, if we were told Spider-Man would be doing just that only a couple of years ago we'd never have believed it.
