The Winter Soldier Reportedly Will Be 'Central' To CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

While the Winter Soldier hasn't been officially announced yet as part of the third Captain America film, a new report suggests he will be a "central character" in the film.

In an article posted today at Badass Digest, it is mentioned in passing that Sebastian Stan's Winter Soldier character will be a "central character" in Captain America: Civil War. "Sources close to production tell me that not only is the Winter Soldier involved in Civil War, he's a central character in it," it states. The article is mostly focused on the potential role of Daniel Bruhl's villain in the film, but speculates that Bruhl's character could be tied to the origin of the Winter Soldier.

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo had previously suggested that the Winter Soldier would play a key role in the third Captain America film, noting that they viewed Captain America 2 and 3 as a two parter. In April, the Russos told SlashFilm: "The next movie would seem to require a continuation of the journey of the Winter Soldier ... Both on Cap's part and the Winter Soldier part." However, those comments were made months ago, earlier in the film's development stage and before details of Captain America: Civil War emerged.

As more of the cast have been confirmed for the film in recent weeks, including Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man and Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther, there was some question among fans whether plans had changed, especially since there has been no official word on Sebastian Stan's Winter Soldier yet and reports on RDJ's contract suggested he pushed for a bigger role than was originally intended.  However, this new report suggests the Winter Soldier will still be heavily involved in the third Cap film. What role do you think the Winter Soldier will play in Civil War?

So who will take the role of Spiderman in this movie?

Black Panther or Winter Soldier?

@Brainiac13

Agreed about that! It's time to kill the Cap!

maybe it'll have something to do with winter soldier's assassination of howard stark.

roger's wants to save his friend & stark probably wants him dead,then cap & iron man butt heads.

It's pretty straightforward, IMO:

The Winter Soldier ends with Cap and Falcon beginning their hunt for Bucky.
They get sidetracked by the events of Age of Ultron.
By the beginning of Captain America: Civil War, they resume their search. Heck, maybe Tony Stark tags along to help.
Somehow, Winter Soldier's past criminal deeds gets released to the public (or if not the public, at the very least Tony finds out).

Remember how The Winter Soldier implied that HYDRA had something to do with the death of Stark's parents? It's not that much of a stretch at all to think that Bucky himself was the one who did it. Tony finds out, he's understandably pissed that Cap's long-lost best friend was the one who killed his parents, and he wants to arrest him or maybe even kill him. Cap obviously wants to save him.

Add the Superhuman Registration Act on top of all this, and there you go! Civil War.

@Ezio

Meh, nothing...I just think after 4 appearances i these films it would've feel like as if it would've been done that quick you know? People have grew to love Cap in the MCU and if he gets murked people will actually "feel" that. They'll feel that the stakes in this universe is at large and once he's brought back to life in Infinity Wars it'll be the most glorious moment in CBM history in regards to "ressurections" Seeing that Evans is also down to two-three more films in his contract doesn't really hurt this from happening.

Tony was almost out of control when he thought the Mandarin attacked Happy. Who was his driver. And who eventually recovered.

Think of how much MORE enraged he'll be when he finds out the Winter Soldier killed his parents.

I can totally see Tony becoming almost homicidal.

And now that I think of it... Hydra should come to an end by the end of this movie in some way (if they are involved-could be the instigators behind the scenes) because looking at Marvels Phase 3 line up, Hydra shouldn't have anything to do with them (A movie with Hydra and No Cap would be weird).... Unless We only continue to see Hydra In Agents of Shield ( Not knowing how many more seasons it will have). Aahh so many questions so little answers Marvel...

Hopefully he actually will be because he certainly wasn't central in DISNEY'S MARVEL'S SHIELD: THE MOVIE - THE RETURN OF HYDRA ;)

Im really interested to see how they are going to cram in the entire Civil War arc into a Captain America movie. Has a lot of potential depending on how its handled. Oh and I really want Buck to takeover as Cap.

@MelKaticox - I know secret identities won't be a factor in this movie but I mean are we not going to get a character who is torn between two sides? I don't think you need a secret identity for that. Someone could choose one side in the beginning and by the end of the movie switch sides (For what ever reason that may be but I'm sure Marvel could come up with one). That's what I mean by "Spider-mans role"

I could see why they view The Winter Soldier and Civil War as a two-part story; it all comes down to trust and whose side you are on.

@MARVELPSYCHO79 - Agreed but no worries.. A lot more people wanna see Cap lift that hammer during Infinity War instead of dying in Civil War

@Jollem Dammit man, I'm trying to exaggerate in order to prove a point here! Get out of here with your facts and logic.

Haha seriously though, of course that's true. But my point is if Tony can get that mad about Happy being hurt, doesn't it make sense that he'd go completely off the rails when he finds out that his parents were murdered in cold blood? His reaction in Civil War should make that scene in Iron Man 3 look like a little temper tantrum.

If they do kill Steve, actually kill him. Damn there every death so far has been copped out. I want real impact.
