CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD - WWE Superstar Seth Rollins' Role Has Reportedly Been Revealed

WWE Superstar Seth Rollins recently joined the cast of Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World, and one reliable insider has now shed some light on who the World Heavyweight Champion is playing!

WWE Superstar Seth Rollins was first seen on the set of Captain America: Brave New World last month, and we surmised at the time that he might be among the actors playing members of the villainous Serpent Society.

Well, one reliable insider now appears to have confirmed that by revealing (via TheRingReport.com) Rollins will take on the role of Cobra.

It's also said that the pro wrestler has wrapped filming after missing a couple of weeks of Monday Night RAW, suggesting the movie itself might be close to wrapping (which would explain Anthony Mackie's recent social media post).

There have been a couple of Cobras in the Marvel Universe, though we're guessing Rollins could be playing an amalgamation of the original, Klaus Voorhees, and his nephew Piet Voorhees.

A Surprise Challenge To Seth Rollins During Last Night's Episode

While the former led the group for a time, that role is expected to go to Diamondback in Captain America: Brave New World so Marvel Studios will likely borrow more from the second version of the character. He was a mercenary who acquired his superhuman abilities after being injected with the same irradiated venom that transformed his uncle.

Rollins recently won the World Heavyweight Championship in a match with AJ Styles at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia, so he's currently riding high. Nabbing a role in the MCU is a big deal for any aspiring actor, and while his priority appears to be his in-ring work, this could be the start of much bigger things for Rollins in Hollywood.

In terms of prior acting credits, he counts the likes of Sharknado: The 4th Awaken, Armed Response, and Like a Boss among them. We're definitely intrigued to see what he can bring to the table as Cobra.

Captain America: Brave New World is set to be released in theaters on May 3, 2024.

I wonder if the Serpent Society will be failed test subjects from the original replicated formula that Sharon Carter was selling. And their DNA rejection is what caused their mutations.

@SonOfAGif - If true, this might lend credence to the theory she's actually a Skrull.

@comicfan100 - I hope so, because I hated what they did to Sharon in FATWS.

@SonOfAGif - So... hold on I'm thinking through this as I type... what if essentially "CA:BNW" and "Thunderbolts" are essentially a Part 1 and Part 2 of this story (which it's kinda feeling like they are) which both revolve around Val creating her own team of Super Soldiers? Makes sense so far based on what we've seen so far (especially with her recruiting John Walker). AND what if the person that we saw "Carter" (could be a Skrull) call at the end of "FanWS" was Val, essentially setting her up with more SS serum, which Val uses to create the Serpent Society by mixing it with snake DNA, etc. to essentially up its potency. So New Cap has to deal with that.

BUT THEN we find out that while Val thinks she's calling the shots here it's actually the Leader who is trying to build his own group of gamma-irradiated SSs based on Banner's blood, which leads into "Thunderbolts". The Leader's creation of a group of Hulk-based SSs goes wrong, they go on a rampage, and they put together the Thunderbolts to deal with them because it takes SSs to take out SSs (plus a lot of them have criminal records and may not have any choice). BUT finally when all seems lost, Ross does the whole "Fine. I'll do it myself." thing (which I could TOTALLY see Ford saying) and has the Leader juice him up as the Red Hulk. BUT while Rulk is able to take down the bad guys, he's out of control at the end and the TBs have to take him down, which they do and they live to fight another day. Roll credits!

WHEW! I'm lie exhausted even from typing that, but if Marvel even comes close to pulling off everything that I just entailed, I'll be a happy camper.

@StSteven - This is why I feel like Marvel Studios really dropped the ball post end-game with its "Saga" I feel like they needed to go through multiple mini sagas that exist within themselves but eventually merge in the end. For example Falcon and Winter Soldier, She-Hulk, Captain America Brave New World, Secret Invasion and The Thunderbolts should have been the "Super Soldier Saga".
StSteven
StSteven - 6/11/2023, 2:07 PM
@SonOfAGif - Yeah, I hear ya, but I think that they had a couple of reasons for going with the "Multiverse Saga" and making the "Super Soldier Saga" a kind of "mini-saga" within it:

1. They wanted to do a saga just as large if not larger than the "Infinity Saga", otherwise it would have felt like a step down in scale
2. They had to come up with a way to incorporate all the properties that they had acquired rom the Fox merger in as organic a way as possible
3. The launch of D+ drove the need for a lot of new content rapidly which, along with COVID and Chapek's influences, led to them being rather disjointed in Phase 4

Of those 3 above, I think (but I'm just guessing) that #2 was the one that Feige cared about the most and was the most important to him, while the other two were more corporate-mandated ("gotta get asses in theaters and subscribers"). So as far as a "SS Saga" would have gone, it probably wouldn't have been grand enough in scale on its own to do alone and it was probably decided to just tack it on as more content, even though it (so far) doesn't really seem to have much to do with the larger "MS". In fact, I would bet (but again don't know) that if Kevin had his way they probably wouldn't have done a "SS Saga" right now at all and just focused on the "MS" to make sure that they get that right. Then again, maybe they just thought that the SS stuff was the more grounded aspect of this saga as opposed to all the Multiversal shenanigans going on concurrently. Dunno. Would have LOVED to have been a fly on the wall for those conversations though.

@MarvelZombie616 - You're not alone. The MCU is DOA. GOTG 3 was the last hurrah and it's all downhill from there. GSP as Batroc was a stretch but at least GSP is an MMA GOAT and has a legit crazy French accent and was in the MCU for about 4.5 minutes. Seth Rollins is a character Colby Lopez plays on TV that has been extremely hit or miss since the WM MOITB run in years ago.

@BlackStar25 - He's almost definitely getting reduced to being the named muscle, hopefully he's more of a threat the whole movie like Crossbones was in Cap 2 rather than a 1-scene wonder like Batroc.

Not New World Order?

I guess the Disney wokey meter readers found some reason this title would be less offensive to some group or snail or something.

@JoJo1982 - Woke means the enforcement of Wishful Thinking upon what otherwise should be simple and rational decision making.

It is favoring abstract ideals about the world and disregarding reality.

That's what it is.

What it results in is
Pats on the Head for co-aligning with unrealistic group think.
The coddling of minority groups, encouraging infantile behavior and group superiority.
In fact, Woke ideology actively harms minority groups for this exact reason. Instead of spending effort improving their situations, Wokism allows them to live in a fairy tale land, and provides no incentive for true betterment.

I left the important that it results in.

It results in witch hunting against the individuals who refuse to share this fantasy group think.
The only way to enforce fabulistic group think is to punish those who speak truth against it.

Not true. I very occasionally speak out against something considered woke by many. You turned sometimes into "everything".

I actually love the MCU and lots of the things upcoming in it and comment often about these things. You turn my occasional criticisms of MCU things into complaining about "everything" new from Marvel.

You pick & choose occasional comments & turn them into absolutes.

I'm not liking what I'm seeing from this movie. I thought that (appart from the Isaiah scenes which were the only ones that I really enjoyed), FATWS was the most generic and by the numbers MCU entry thus far. So having the same team being involved with this film doesn't fill me with coinfidence. Also, I hate how they redesigned Sam's suit, if the headpiece was a problem they could've just redesigned that. I hope that the Serpent Society will end up looking like their comic book counterparts, but I don't have much faith.

Yet another new Marvel product in which I am not interested.

They really oversaturated their product line with the half-assed shows, and went too big and too final on Endgame.
