In Avengers: Endgame's closing moments, the elderly Steve Rogers (who had spent decades in the past after finally getting his happy ending with Peggy Carter) gave his shield, and the Captain America mantle, to Sam Wilson.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier showed the hero struggling with that burden, though he'd later realise he was the right person to pick up where Steve left off. We only got a glimpse of what that will mean for the MCU during the finale, but Captain America: New World Order is going to fully put the spotlight on the MCU's newest Star Spangled Avenger.
Sorry, that should be Captain America: Brave New World.
There were rumours this might happen, but the upcoming movie has indeed changed its title. That's been confirmed in a social media post from Anthony Mackie in which the new logo can be seen on the back of one of the director chairs. "New World Order" was the title of an episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, so we've long expected some sort of alteration to be made.
In this first official look at Captain America: Brave New World, Sam Wilson is decked out in a new costume which seems to have been heavily inspired by Steve Rogers' stealth suit. Interestingly, one of the monitors shows what looks to be the costume the former Falcon wore in his Disney+ series.
Harrison Ford is also featured talking with his co-star, confirming his version of General "Thunderbolt" Ross won't be rocking a moustache. That should make things easier if and when he transforms into Red Hulk, eh?
"When Harrison Ford tells you how kicking ass should look, you listen!" Mackie says. "Thanks for the on set wisdom and laughs my friend! Can’t wait to do it again..."
Captain America: New World Order Brave New World is set to be released in theaters on May 3, 2024.
