-Joe Johnston Interview
+“We wanted to tell the origin story of the character,” Johnston explains in the interview, “but you really only get one chance to tell the story. We debated back and forth whether or not it should be period of present day. We finally realized that if we do it in present day, it’s going to be really impossible to go back and tell his origin story. So we said, ‘Let’s bite the bullet and tell how Captain America came to be.’ I mean, studios and money people just think, ‘Oh, period, this is going to cost us more and this is going to be harder to sell,’ but I think, ‘Well, look at Raiders of the Lost Ark. It was 1936, about as period as you can get, and everything worked on that film. I mean, it was just virtually flawless from beginning to end. Not that we’re using that as our blueprint, but we’re certainly inspired by the hopefulness of what they did on that picture.”

-Rumor Robert Buckley cast as Captain America. He stars in TV's One Tree Hill.

Mark Millar comic scribe of Marvel's the Ultimates has this to say about the upcoming Captain America And Avengers Movies, and whether he pitched his Ultimates Run as an Avengers Movie.
+Well, they've already admitted they're doing it that way. Joe Johnston has said publically, the Captain America movie is going to be the first issue of Ultimates, plus the origin story, and then the Avengers movie will be material from Ultimates #2-#13, and maybe Ultimates Volume 2. I'm not speaking out of school, they've publically said this. And I'm flattered by it.
+I literally don't see a cent, though, so it's not in my interests to try and make it a pitch, and convince them to base the movie on my thing. People have asked if I'm pissed off, but I just see it as a compliment. When you do work for hire, you have to realise you won't see money for that. If you've done a good job, and it reaches other mediums, then great.
+I think what would make me unhappy is if I'd been like Jack Kirby or something, and only worked for Marvel, then saw them making billions and me only getting my pay 20 years before. That would be bleak. But that's why, hopefully, current creators realise that in the end, your stuff will be used, and you will not be paid, so be smart and do some creator-owned stuff. Ennis, Ellis, we all do it as well as our Marvel stuff.

Captain America CBM 101
For they who are not one of us :)

Brief Comic History:
Captain America is a superhero that appears in Marvel Comics. The character's first appearance is in Captain America Comics #1 (March 1941). He was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. Captain America's alter ego is Steve Rogers, Rogers was a sickly young man who was enhanced to the peak of human perfection by an experimental serum in order to aid the United States war effort. Captain America wears a costume that has an American flag motif, he has an indestructible shield which he uses defensively and offensively.

Live CBM History:
(1944)
Captain America's first foray into live media was in 1944, he was the first Marvel Comics character adapted into another medium. In this portrayal his alter ego is a district attorney named Grant Gardner, the serial removes many important elements of the character, such as his trademark shield and his sidekick Bucky Barnes.

(1979)
The character next reappears in two (2) TV Movies that aired on CBS title Captain America and Captain America II: Death too soon. The character differs significantly from the comics in both his origin and his operations. For instance, Steve Rogers is a character in contemporary times whose father was a 1940s government agent. The very patriotic attitude of Steve's father earned him the nickname Captain America, and his father is spoken of as having been murdered. Rogers, a former Marine now making what little living he makes as an artist, was inspired by this story to sketch a super-hero. After receiving potentially fatal injuries in an accident, he was administered an experimental chemical called the FLAG—Full Latent Ability Gain—formula (at one point referred to as a "super-steroid") which not only saves his life but also enhances his body with heightened strength and reflexes.

(1990)
The 1990 film Captain America, stars Matt Salinger, and the movie was shot in Yugoslavia. It depicted the creation of Captain America from weak soldier Steve Rogers, his fight in World War II and subsequent apparent death, his being found decades later frozen in ice, and his realization and comprehension that our enemies from the war are now our allies, as well as the hero's battle against the Red Skull, who in the film is an Italian fascist rather than a German Nazi.

It was probably deleted because this is all information that has been posted roughly at least twice...and this isn't really a "Fan site" per se, it's more of a comic news site with user-generated material...

I mean, it's nice to have it all gathered together, but if you're looking for a reason, well, there you go...

I think that people still want to talk about, but this time, please, leave aside the chat about patriotism. I read Cap. since before i could really read. And never, never i have raised that issues: How strongly he would embody his nation.Or if that nation is better than other, and so on. He was the greatest hero of a country that was not my,but nevertheless he was a great hero in the eyes of a little Italian child. And still he is. Enjoy this movie

I'm not really crazy about any of those actors for the role. Then again, I'm such a huge Cap fan I don't know if anyone would fit the bill to me...

I'm rooting for Ackles out of the 3 actors. I'm glad Marvel studios and Joe Johnson have decided to go with a unknown for the role. Although Jensen Ackles isn't really a unknown, since he co stars in his own tv show. but I like him to play Captain America as well, and if Jensen does get the role of Captain America, I guess it means Supernatural won't be getting a season 6 :( since most of his time would be getting prepared and shooting the movie since it will be out next year. If he doesn't get the role at least he'll be voicing Red Hood/Jason Todd in the next WB/DC Comics animated movie.

I agree with Brent and also Anil Ricky. Not crazy about the "rumored" top 3. I still think Leo would be a great fit and he was "rumored" at latinoreview.com to be Marvel's top choice at one point. They're pretty good with their rumors. But i could see Leo/Damon above those guys easily. Out of that "unholy" trinity , the only one i could see is McPartlin. If they go the "unknown" route as they did with Thor and surround with top talent(which will most likely be the case), I'm really starting to like TEDDY SEARS for the part! Others have posted him as a candidate for Cap and i can really see it.
SteveRogers

McPartlin is the only one I could take seriously. The others are just fanboy wet dream choices.

Does anyone have any news as to who might compose the music score for the Movie?

I really hope it ends up being Michael Giacchino who I'm convinced is the only composer out there who should compose the music score for the Captain America movie.

Listen to this and I dare you to disagree with me.

@ACCESS- Hemsworth should have been cast as Cap, I don't give a damn that he's Australian...just in those few minutes in the beginning of "Star Trek" I got the impression that he would make a great Captain America.
He'll kick ass as Thor though.

whomever gets cast as Cap (and hopefuly does an amazing job)has the possiblity of becoming one of the most overrated actor ever. Can you imagine how many people would want to cast this guy into any role possible? The cap role is a role of a lifetime! It can make or break anybody's career! Hope they cast it to somebody who both looks/acts the part and really deserves it. :)

Someone who is friends with Scott Porter posted this on ONTD ( http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/44645144.html )

"yeah he (Porter) didnt get Captain I was so upset with him I was hanging out with him friday night and he just found out a few days ago... I think John Kransinski is getting it he said."

"yeah apparently the director is Emily Blunts close friend or something and thats how John got asked to test for it and I heard hes a shoe in from Scott."

"I'm not 100% its just what scott told me friday that he wasnt proally getting it because of john's relationship with Emily and her relationship with the director whom i think directed Young Victoria or something."

Wow if this is true then we might as well throw away any possibility of an actor who actually looks/acts/deserves the role of cap away. *sighs* I guess if Shrek (opps I mean Krasinski) is cast then it must be for a good reason, and I hope that reason isn't just that the director is friends with the fiancee of Krasinski. I hope this isn't true...please god have this not be true. Please please please pretty please.
