Man of Steel will buck the current trend of "midnight" film showings now being scheduled at 10pm after the tragedy of the Colorado shootings.. Man of Steel will actually be released at midnight.

In a new interview with the aptly named Interview Magazine, Henry Cavill may have let slip one of the two new super powers Superman will have in Man of Steel. Relax, it's nothing too drastic but may prove an irritation for Batman.

Cavill: "For example, because of his strength, he can't just give his mom a big hug, because if he really hugs her hard, then she'll explode, so he has to find ways of conveying love without doing harm. A light bulb popping doesn't scare him. He can see in the dark, so when the lights go out, nothing changes for him."

The Joss Whedon promotional tour for Much Ado About Nothing is coming to a close as the film is finally in theaters. That also means we probably won't be hearing any new updates on Avengers 2 or Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for quite a bit. However, here's one of the last, which has Joss talking about his role as Marvel Consultant in Phase II.

Whedon: "I am consulting for Marvel on everything, so I do actually have a little bit of say. Kevin Feige (President of Production for Marvel Studios) is running things brilliantly; he knows exactly what he wants to do. But I do get to sort of come in say "What if we...?" and "Can we do...?" and every now and then I say "Can we protect MY film, please?" But usually he's got his eye on the ball, and I respect them, and I think they all tee up well for what it is that I have coming. And not by design, really more coincidence."

Here's another, this time Joss is talking to Time Magazine and touches on superhero films in general, specifically mentioning Sam Raimi's Spider-Man and Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogies.

Wow, have to say that Stan is staying in character even when they are not shooting. I don't think I've seen a picture yet where he's goofing off with Evans and other cast members when they aren't rolling.

yeah night vision is nothing new and neither is his strength, if anything its lack of power control, he hasn't learned to control his strength,

So this renders Batman pretty much useless?

Cool.

It would have been cool to give superman the power he had in Birthright, where when a person dies he can see their aura leave their body. This is why Superman is very heart broken when he see people die and does not want to kill.

Night vision.. I LIKE!!! Could give us some great dialogue between Supes and Bats in a future WORLD'S FINEST film!!!!!!!

And regarding the midnight showing news was it not always like that because every midnight show I see starts a 12 am. Plus to avoid any Colorado shooting they should always have at least one armed guard at a theater or better yet a patrol outside the theater during any major release. That's what they do in the hood when Paranormal Activity comes out.

Batman hides in the dark...
Superman; I can see you right there Bruce.
Batman; [frick] you Clark!

I had always thought his infrared vision was night vision. I am old time so maybe that was removed in one of the many reboots and multiple crises

@ tonychu ... that would be awesome. would also be cool because like for example with zods auroa it would be very cark and then for like doomsday maybe it would just not have one.

@RonEL yeah figured something like that, i like the comics and he always holds back, and knows how to control how much force to use or not use

Uh, of COURSE Superman can see in the dark. He can see every single form of light in the electromagnetic spectrum. Technically, he's ALWAYS been able to see in the dark. Just because no one ever mentioned it (or THOUGHT to mention it), it doesn't mean it's a new power.

so they bring up the super hug so i take it to mean he has to watch how he gets down with lois ... another reason i think we will see him with wonderwoman.

nothing new for Supes... it's part of his Enhanced Vision superpower
SuperPickle
SuperPickle - 6/10/2013, 11:05 AM
Superman has always had that vision power. As long as he's not throwing a giant saran wrap "S" symbol or issuing any "amnesia" kisses, I think we'll be okay. lol

Winter Badass!

Cap don't get outdone by Bucky in your own movie
NeoBaggins

I thought the new power would be telepathy. They say the skull scene is a dream sequence, and you can see Zod and Supes close their eyes in the trailers. They show those shots seemingly for no reason. So, maybe.

Also, I figure those floating things on Krypton are basically cameras that record everything, making it possible for the hi-tech footage Clark receives on Earth.

SMH... Supes seeing in the dark IS NOT NEW!!!
NeoBaggins
NeoBaggins - 6/10/2013, 11:34 AM
I think Cavill is just describing super vision/X-ray vision in his own way.

But if he can see at night, WORLD'S FINEST better be a buddy film.
Brainiac13
Brainiac13 - 6/10/2013, 11:38 AM
I don't think this is new.....he's never had trouble in the dark in the comics!

90% of Superman's powers are vision powers.
JayJayCAW
JayJayCAW - 6/10/2013, 12:11 PM
yeah.....that's not a "new" power, just one that Kal-El never used, Kal-L in the other hand said he could do that in the old comics, I think before he started flying

superman can see radio waves.

Well, Superman sees the entire light spectrum, so I guess this isn't a new power, but possibly the idea of him seeing it all at once being shown on screen
