The Captain America Sequel Could Focus On The Falcon and Sharon Carter

Screenwriters Chris Markus and Stephen McFeely tells PopcornBiz, what you can expect in Captain America 2.

Modern day Cap for the sequel?
“It might be doing a disservice not to address the present day Cap, particularly because so much of the comic book run right now is present day Cap – that ‘man out of time’ is the icon,” admits Markus. “The Captain America that most people know is really from kind of the reboot, when Stan Lee brought him back in '63 and '64, frozen from a block of ice. So his biggest personality trait is that he's this man out of time, and for us, we didn't have the opportunity [to explore that]. This was a guy in the RIGHT time.”

Could we see The Falcon and Sharon Carter in Captain America 2?
“I want both of them!” says Markus. “Sharon is meaty, almost to a point where you get a little uncomfortable because her relation to Peggy has shifted over the years, as time has passed. She's the sister, she's the cousin, she's the niece. You have to walk a fine line there because it does seem like you're dating your girlfriend's daughter. Falcon is awesome. We can't play with time so much to have Cap go back to Harlem in the '70's and clean up the streets, but it would be awesome to go straight up, like, 'Shaft' with Cap and the Falcon.”

And what about Cap in the 40's?
“We certainly want at least a portion of the '40's, I think,” co-screenwriter Chris Markus tells PopcornBiz, and his screenwriting partner Stephen McFeely agrees: “The span of the movie is about two or three years, and there's a few times in the film where you jump four months ahead, you jump six months ahead. So we did that with the intention of saying, 'Okay, there are certainly unseen adventures that Captain America went on in that period that if we want to, we can go back and explore later.’”

Well it's pretty well assumed that actress, Amanda Righetti is going to play Sharon Carter. She is one of the stars of the CBS hit show, The Mentalist, and she made a brief cameo at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger.

Who is Sharon Carter?
Inspired by stories about her Aunt Peggy's adventures in the French Resistance alongside Captain America, Sharon Carter joined the newly-formed espionage agency S.H.I.E.L.D. During an early mission against Hydra, Sharon was attacked by the mercenary Batroc and aided by Captain America. Initially knowing her only as Agent 13, Cap worked alongside Carter on several subsequent missions against A.I.M., the Nazi Red Skull, and others; the two soon became lovers - courtesy of marvel.com

The Falcon, who do you think should play him? He was one of the first black superheroes and a sidekick for Captain America. Read below for more information on The Falcon. Fun fact: Sam was asked to be part of The Avengers because of affirmative action, but turned it down.

Who is The Falcon (Sam Wilson)?
The Red Skull sought to use Wilson as a pawn against Captain America, who was currently on the island searching for the villain. The Skull reasoned that Wilson's idealism would appeal to the Captain enough to become his crimefighting partner. Then, at some later date, the Skull could use Wilson against his enemy. He used a Cosmic Cube to revert "Snap" into Sam and give Sam the ability to telepathically communicate with birds, especially a bird that Wilson had bought named Redwing. Sam helped Captain America defeat the Skull and did indeed become his partner as the Falcon.

Abilities & Powers:
Excellent trainer of birds, and has been highly trained in gymnastics and hand-to-hand combat by Captain America.

Originally possessed the ability to telepathically communicate with his pet falcon Redwing, but that ability has grown into the ability to telepathically communicate with any birds within an unknown radius. Through this telepathic link he is also able to receive mental images of what the birds see. - courtesy of Marvel.com

Exploring the dynamic with Sharon Carter makes sense but they have to be careful with it, it is a awkward kinda situation and The Falcon not too sure how they can work the character in not a big of fan of the character so I'll wait and see

I'm really torn here. I want a Winter Soldier sequel, but i also want a solo Cap in our day and age. Can both be brilliantly put into one?

Sharon Carter will almost definitely be in it. If anyone still doubts that Amanda Righetti (The OC, The Mentalist) was Sharon Carter in the First Avenger, the "Code 13" alarm should have given it away because she is Agent 13 in the comics.

Every kid now knows the falcon throught the "Marvel Super Hero Squad" online game. I hope they go straight with the white and red uniform, and not with the black "ultimates" uniform.

Talking about the ultimates, i recall a very good story in which Cap and Falcon have a long discussion (while driving a Pontiac Trans Am) about how many values that Steve perceives as wrong actually were victories earned over time. I can´t recall which issue that was.

@Hellsing

its so easy how the The Falcon can work in Captain American Sequel

if they based the Falcon on Ultimate Falcon in Captain American Sequel it will be perfect.

if you dont know Ultimate Falcon Samuel Wilson is an explorer, adventurer, and scientist who uses a backpack with high-tech folding wings to fly. he is also an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who work under General Nick Fury.

@Jazzman, That'd work perfectly. I'd have to say Anthony Mackie would make a great Falcon.

Thing about Red Skull is Weaving mentioned he wasn't to keen on returning, even though he's under contract. That doesn't make me too excited having him come back. I would rather Zemo as the villain if not him change the actor. I say lets get Arny to play The Skull.

he might be under contract to return but Marvel contract dont always mean much. look how many actors left Marvel and they ment to be under contract lol.

I can dig it. I'd put a different spin on the Falcon and have him working with Stark on the wings and stuff. Then I'd have him be in some kind of non S.H.I.E.L.D. special force and help Cap in his fight against the Winter Soldier. I'd have Winter Soldier have some SLIGHT connections with the ten rings. The connections would be that Arnim Zola ((who is still alive because he created a device that transferred his mind into a genetically engineered body)) brainwashed Jim Barnes ((Winter Soldier)) and also used an aged-suppressant that is derived from the blood of Schmidt. Zola would have created some tech for the Ten Rings ((as well as A.I.M., who I'd have waging a war against the Ten Rings as a way to gain control of the Makluan rings in the third Iron Man))

@THEWORLD

You don't remember the montage scenes??? They were trying to convey the fact that CAP had a good deal of experience before he finally went after the Red Skull...

They didn't say "1yr later or anything" but it was implied...
jjmeylar
jjmeylar - 8/18/2011, 11:59 AM
@theWorld: It actually left a LOT of gaps. There are countless adventures that could have been explored ((such as Zemo, Von Strucker, and Madame Hydra)) during they pursuit of Schmidt.

@theWorld The Howling Commandos montage spanned over a few years of battling. They could easily slip his unseen adventures amongst those.

I'd much prefer they went the Ultimate route with the Falcon. A SHIELD scientist/field agent. I also hope they bring back Zola. Too good of a villain to waste as a Red Skull lackey.

Fogs - 8/18/2011, 12:00 PM
@theWorld - wrong. Just after he shows his uniform ideas to Stark and he's seen putting it on there are sparse scenes with him and the commandos breaking different hydra bases and plans, giving the clear idea that time went by, and he got experience as a soldier as well.

Besides, after he accepts the army's proposal for the USO show the movie cuts and he's in Europe already, we don't know how long it took, and what kind of training he had (officially or not).

Exactly! I for one wouldn't mind a "Captain America &The Howling Commando's" movie...

well since Amanda Righetti is in the avengers reprising her role as Sharon Carter then yeah she should be in the cap sequel. it's be kinda dumb if she wouldn't due to her close connection with cap.

i am really not all that big on bringing in The Falcon. i would much rather get some Winter Soldier.

and i am all for having Sharon Carter and the casting of Righetti to play her is perfect.
AlanWarlock
AlanWarlock - 8/18/2011, 12:10 PM
Not terribly impressed with Amanda Righetti; was really hoping they'd use the fact that Sharon was pretty much a dead ringer for Peggy Carter in the comics so they could bring Hayley Atwell back as Sharon. Of course, they're not wedded to Righetti any more than "Iron Man 2"'s producers were wedded to Terrence Howard in the role of James Rhodes....

I don't care if they NEVER do a "Winter Soldier" storyline - it's convoluted, poorly executed and simply stupid. I'd much rather see Cap and the Falcon than Cap and "Winter Soldier."

Growing up my older brother and me used to have all those superhero action figures made by Mego. The 8 inch ones that had the real cloth clothing. I remember Falcon always being my favorite. I think it would be cool to see him in a movie.
