According to Fandango, Marvel's Captain Marvel, which opens in theaters tomorrow night, is currently the ticket retailer's biggest advance ticket seller since Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War last year at the same point in its sales cycle, which strongly suggests Carol Danvers is well on her way to a gargantuan opening at the box office this weekend.

Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis explains some of the hype, “There’s a reason ‘Captain Marvel’ is Fandango’s fastest preseller since ‘Infinity War’: fans can’t wait to experience the nostalgic ‘90s vibe of the film and to see Brie Larson as one of the most powerful and relatable superheroes we’ve seen on the big screen. With ‘Endgame’ approaching, fans are also rushing to the multiplex to find out how ‘Marvel’ fits into the ‘Avengers’ storyline, plus they can’t wait to see Goose, the scene-stealing cat.

According to a recent Fandango survey of over 1,000 Captain Marvel moviegoers:

  • 98% are looking forward to seeing how “Captain Marvel” connects to the ongoing “Avengers” storyline
  • 92% are looking forward to the movie’s ‘90s setting.
  • 81% are excited about seeing “Captain Marvel” because they hope it will provide more answers to “Infinity War” before seeing “Endgame.”
  • 75% are looking forward to seeing the “de-aging” process used on Samuel L. Jackson to portray a younger Nick Fury and on Clark Gregg as rookie Agent Coulson.
Plus, here's a new clip featuring young Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) squaring off with the shifty Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) and the fight doesn't exactly seem to be going in his favor.

Starforce members Korath the Pursuer (Djimon Hounsou) and Minn-Erva (Gemma Chan) report to Jude Law's mysterious character, who we were initially led to believe was Mar-Vell, but is actually Yon-Rogg.

Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) gears up for action in her green-and-silver Starforce suit. We can only assume this is before she gets her trademark red, blue, and gold suit.

A new hi-res behind-the-scenes shot of Academy Award-winner Brie Larson with directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. This appears to be at the airport base, which is where Carol's story will apparently begin.

We know Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) disappears at some point and this appears to be after she returns to Earth as she swaps out her Starforce uniform for something a bit more casual.

A Skrull baddie takes aim at Carol Danvers (Brie Larson). While unconfirmed, there's plenty of reason to believe these shapeshifting evildoers may have a big role to play in Phase 4.

Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) leads the Starforce, which also contains Minn-Erva (Gemma Chan) and Korath the Pursuer (Djimon Hounsou) into battle.

After sitting out most of the past few films, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) returns in a big way as the young S.H.I.E.L.D. gets his first taste of what's really out there.

Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) gives Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) all the details about her current mission and warns him about the impending Skrull threat.

The Skrulls plot against their sworn enemies, the Kree. Ben Mendelsohn will lead their forces as Talos.

Hot on the heels of her show-stealing turn in Crazy Rich Asians, Gemma Chan stars as Minn-Erva in her first big-budget Marvel blockbuster and there's plenty of reason to believe she'll be back for more as we head into Phase 4.

While Ronan (Lee Pace) may have met his end at the hands of the Guardians, we'll get a chance to learn more about his upbringing here.

Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) in her glorious red, blue, and gold suit, which has been an early fan-favorite and should be pretty huge come this Halloween.

Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) reconnects with her old friend Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch) and warns her not to trust anyone because things are no longer what they seem.

Jude Law is Yon-Rogg, who comics fans will recognize as one of Captain Marvel's most dangerous foes. While he's been billed as one of her most trusted allies, it'll be interesting to see whether Marvel will have him go full-on evil in this feature or the next.

Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) and Yon-Rogg (Jude Law) during one of their training sessions, a likely early scene as we get to see Carol become the hero she's always meant to be.

Co-director Ryan Fleck discussing a Starforce scene with Academy Award-winner Brie Larson prior to shooting.

Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.

The chances of overperforming during its opening weekend are getting higher (further, faster baby) and solid enough legs can get this to $400m+ in the US alone. Add to that what is shaping up to be a very strong run overseas and we're looking at a likley $1B+ gross worldwide.

Brie Larson told Hollywood it was musty, secured the bag and is about to break the box office, AND she's about to rule the MCU for the next decade

@OmegaDaGrodd - After the performance I saw and the movie that surrounded it, Feige and Marvel would be nuts to proclaim she’s ruling anything in the MCU.
