Though we've known that Brie Larson will play Carol Danvers in the Captain Marvel movie for quite a while at this stage, aside from a recent description of the character's costume, we still don't really know a whole lot about Marvel's first female-led big screen release. Larson has spoken in the past about what she plans to bring to the role, but she's still not allowed to go into specifics.

While speaking to Vanity fair, the Academy Award-winning actress admits that this level of secrecy - along with the exposure and scrutiny that goes along with this type of role - initially gave her pause.

“It took me a really long time. I had to sit with myself, think about my life and what I want out of it. Ultimately, I couldn’t deny the fact that this movie is everything I care about, everything that’s progressive and important and meaningful, and a symbol I wished I would’ve had growing up. I really, really feel like it’s worth it if it can bring understanding and confidence to young women—I’ll do it.”

Larson also says that Marvel has been "very open to hearing my thoughts and my take on it,” which suggests she might have some input on how Danvers is brought to life.

You can check out the interview in full here, along with some photos from Larson's shoot with the mag.
