Captain Marvel was a solid origin story for Carol Danvers, but it feels like The Marvels will be the movie to establish the place of this insanely powerful superHERo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Carol returned to Earth in Avengers: Endgame, but she's been gone a long time and her best friend's daughter, "Captain Trouble," is now all grown up. S.W.O.R.D. agent Monica Rambeau got powers of her own in WandaVision, and we're expecting her to suit up as Spectrum after being recruited by that Skrull. Throw in Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel, and The Marvels should deliver quite the team-up!
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight to discuss working with director Nia DaCosta on Candyman, actress Teyonah Parris teased epic things to come when The Marvels is released next year.
"I'm floating on cloud nine. I'm really excited to be able to team up with Carol Danvers and Kamala Khan. It's really cool to all be in one place," she said. "And then to have Nia DaCosta, who directed Candyman, also come over to The Marvels with us has been a really special experience. Just having the point of view of a woman—of a Black woman—and Nia's so smart and her perspective and her visual aesthetic, it's been really exciting."
Brie Larson, meanwhile, recently took to Twitter to share some photos from a recent archery session, and it's clear the actress has gotten into incredible shape as she prepares for her return as Captain Marvel...
