THE MARVELS: Carol Danvers And "Lieutenant Trouble" Have An Awkward Reunion In New Clip

As we enter the final promotional push in the buildup to The Marvels flying into theaters next week, a new clip from the Captain Marvel sequel has been released online.

In this latest sneak peek, we drop in on the awkward reunion between Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau. Captain Marvel warmly greets "Lieutenant Trouble" (her nickname for Monica when she was a kid), but it doesn't sound like Captain Rambeau is quite ready to forgive the hero for disappearing from her life after the events of the last movie.

Monica goes on to offer a explanation of her powers, and it sounds like Spectrum, not Photon, is going to be her codename after all.

The Marvels hits theaters on November 10th, with the review embargo lifting on the 8th. Some major spoilers have already begun to do the rounds online, so if you'd rather go in completely fresh, best be wary when navigating social media.

If you want a hint about what - or who - might be lined up for one of the movie's post-credits scenes, click here (don't worry, we don't reveal anything outright).

"In Marvel Studios’ The Marvels, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as The Marvels.”

The film also stars Zawe Ashton and Park Seo-joon. Nia DaCosta directs, and Kevin Feige is the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Mary Livanos and Matthew Jenkins serve as executive producers. The screenplay is by Megan McDonnell, Nia DaCosta, Elissa Karasik and Zeb Wells.

The Marvels will begin its international rollout on November 8, and was recently granted a China release on November 10, day-and-date with North America.

@DrReedRichards - I will never forget when I first saw that red table talk video and the look on Will's face said it all. He was beyond betrayed but due to gender specific roles he couldn't express his pain and grief because Jada gaslighted him into being a "MAN"

@SonOfAGif -

What shocked me more was another video that was released from her pretty close to that one (sooner or later, I forget) asking him about if he thinks X-whatever person was pivotal to their relationship, and while he politely asks her to stop filiming him and to respect him she just kept at it, like some family youtuber with no idea or respect for privacy.

She's completely out of touch with reality...

@DrReedRichards - She is a narcissist and a gas lighter and what makes it worse is the fact that she is proud of it and conceals that truth with her before a strong vocal woman. Despite slandering her husband and openly admitting to never letting go of a former flame who passed away and how she gaslighted her daughter it wishing that Tupac was her father. She's sick.

Curious; what was your stance on WB/DC choosing to release The Flash? Asking in all seriousness, in case that wasn't clear.

@DrReedRichards - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whataboutism

Also, Flash has been decimated by reviewers, is considered of the biggest flops in CBM history, and it will be the last entry in the franchise, as the franchise is getting a reboot.

Now we can go back to discussing the movie at hand.

Okay... what did you think of The Flash, then?
URCOMMENTSUCKS
URCOMMENTSUCKS - 11/2/2023, 9:06 PM
@DrReedRichards - I watched it on fast forward and thought, from what I've seen, it sucked ass.

Now, since the movie is gonna be, at best, remembered as the modern day equivalent of Batman and Robin, we can go back to talking about the movie that's about to come out, to which this very article is dedicated to.

@URCOMMENTSUCKS -

This is what you don't realize: we are talking about the movie in the article, or at least I am.

An unreleased movie of which the released teases and clips seem nothing near the unwatchable trash you both seem to present it as, only to reinforce a mental image of distaste and abhorence that you've already made your minds up on.

Only difference is, the reasons for being predetermined against The Flash were a lot more valid than simple shallow brand distaste that seem to be driving your dislike this time for The Marvels.

URCOMMENTSUCKS - 11/2/2023, 9:27 PM
@DrReedRichards - Get this through your head: Nobody gives a [frick] about a failed Flash movie that everyone have forgotten about half a year ago. We're discussing this current MCU movie, which looks like dogshit. At least resort to whataboutisms when there's a precedent to use them.

Cope.

Precedent and relevance are clearly there, you're just choosing to ignore them.

@DrReedRichards - Flash felt like a theater movie to me, besides the god awful special effects whenever the speed force was used. The rest of it looked cinematic. I agree with what a lot of others are saying that this looks like a made for TV movie.
DrReedRichards
DrReedRichards - 11/2/2023, 9:46 PM
@mountainman -

My biggest complaint has to be the costumes, not just in terms of design but the actual fabric. It just looks cheap, and so do certain props like the villain's (not even gonna look her name up) accuser hammer.

That said, as bad as they seem (and they do seem bad) the reaction is certainly exaggerated into nothing more than immature and premature "M-sHe-U dEaD!" celebrations.
HistoryofMatt
HistoryofMatt - 11/2/2023, 10:01 PM
@DrReedRichards - The Flash had major problems with CGI. It was awful and obviously unfinished.

However, you cannot compare the acting or story in The Flash, which was excellent, compared to THIS garbage.
DrReedRichards
DrReedRichards - 11/2/2023, 10:06 PM
@HistoryofMatt -

Riiiiiiiiiight... 🤣

I mean, where do I even start from? The "excellent" acting of younger Barry like a pill-popping crackhead, or the "excellent" story of learning nothing and messing up againt only to pass it up in the finale like the punchline to a literal joke?

Either way, thanks for proving my point. 👌

"Okay... what did you think of The Flash, then?" - @DrReedRichards

As @URCOMMENTSUCKS said: "Whataboutism".

What the fukc did The Flash have to do with this movie? You could have asked @URCOMMENTSUCKS a million different questions, and you chose to bring The fukcing Flash up. How insecure is your worthless ass if you have to make everything a contest?

You actually think you made a point. That's the worst part. You actually think you pointed something out by doing that.
DrReedRichards
DrReedRichards - 11/2/2023, 10:20 PM
@videovac -

My point, as I said in one of my later comments, is not how bad this movie is going to be. Like I said here and have already said before, it most likely will be. My point is the intent behind celebrating this movie's failure. If that takes another movie as an example to elaborate on, so be it.

You can either comfortable with how transparent our words are, or you can be annoyed by it. And if you are annoyed, you can either continue to whine about it, or you can actually do better and be more sincere next time.

Either way, suit yourself.
HistoryofMatt
HistoryofMatt - 11/2/2023, 10:46 PM
@DrReedRichards - The story and the acting were great. It may not have been to your liking, but there was more to the film that what you describe, and you know that.

Nothing about what we've seen from The Marvels approaches anything we saw from The Flash, which was ultimately not a good movie for other reasons that I outlined.

What I just saw from that one minute of cringe-worthy acting and writing informs the entire film.

It sounds like you have a weird personal attachment to all things Marvel. How else to explain the defense of excrement? 👌
DrReedRichards
DrReedRichards - 11/2/2023, 10:51 PM
@HistoryofMatt -

Read above, hon. Neither is this movie good enough to deserve my defense, nor is its greater franchise weak enough to need it.
HistoryofMatt
HistoryofMatt - 11/2/2023, 11:15 PM
@DrReedRichards - Then why are you so invested? To the point where you feel the need to defend it with ridiculous strawman arguments?
DrReedRichards
DrReedRichards - 11/2/2023, 11:29 PM
@HistoryofMatt -

Again, telling me that I "defend it" after making it clear that this is not the case here...

There actually does exist such a thing as non-constructive, negative, and all around simply bad criticism, you know. All I do is just point it out.
