According to Morgan Sharnette over at Comicbookresource.com, a new bit of casting for the upcoming MCU sequel The Marvels may have been revealed via an actor updating their Mandy.com profile to list the role.
Colin Stonely, an unknown actor with only minor parts to his name thus far, recently updated his online resume to include the role of "Papp-Tonn, a Kree scientist". This is probably not a name familiar to any but the most die hard of comic enthusiasts, as the character has tallied only one appearance way back in 1987 in the pages of Silver Surfer #8.
Papp-Tonn was a Kree Scientist who experimented on Silver Surfer's board under the orders of the Supreme Intellegence. While we can assume that Mr. Stoneley's role in the film is likely to be a minor one, it does raise certain implications about what other cosmic characters might appear. Could the Marvels serve as the vehicle that bridges over the Silver Surfer and Galactus the World Eater into the MCU? Since we already witnessed the Supreme Intellegence in the first Captain Marvel film, who might Papp-Tonn be working for? There is already heavy speculation that Chukwudi Iwuji (Peacemaker) may be playing the High Evolutionary in Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Perhaps we might get a sneak peek at his character in The Marvels?
The Marvels is currently set to hit theaters on February 17, 2023 and features Oscar winner Brie Larson returning as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel and Samual L jackson as Nick Fury. Wandavision allum Teyonah Parris joins the cast as Monica Rambeau, and Ms. Marvel series star Iman Vellani will also co-star. Zawa Ashton is set to play the films main antagonist in an undiclosed role. Nia Dacosta (Candyman) will direct.
As always, it's time to speculate wildly! Make your thoughts known below!
