During Monday Night Football, Marvel Studios released the official final trailer for The Marvels, which reveals an incredibly dire intergalactic threat and promises a reality-bending adventure that will change everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it.
While what that could entail is anyone's guess, some of the recent buzz has heavily suggested that the film will contain a few big cameos that could hint at some very big things to come in the not-so-distant future, possibly even as early as next year's Deadpool 3. However, how the film ties into the hotly-awaited Avengers: Secret Wars remains to be seen, but we wouldn't be surprised to see, at least, a few subtle hints at what's to come in 2027.
The film's secrets will remain under lock and key until this weekend, but the trailer does confirm one small nugget that's been bouncing around the rumor mill for ages and it's that Thor: Love and Thunder and Avengers: Endgame star Tessa Thompson will indeed appear in the film, reprising her role as Valkyrie. The new trailer reveals a scene of her offering some counsel to Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) in her time of need, although she's not suited up in battle gear, so it seems unlikely that she'll be an active participant in the film's major action sequences, but it does seem like she's forged quite the friendship with Captain Marvel.
The ensemble cast features Academy Award-winner Brie Larson (Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel), Teyonah Parris (Monica Rambeau/Photon), Iman Vellani (Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel), Zawe Ashton (Dar-Benn), Gary Lewis (Emperor Dro'ge), Seo-Jun Park (Prince Yan), Zenobia Shroff (Muneeba Khan), Mohan Kapur (Yusuf Khan), Saagar Shaikh (Aamir Khan), and Academy Award-nominee Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury).
Nia DaCosta directed the feature from a screenplay she co-wrote with Megan McDonnell and Elissa Karasik. Kevin Feige is, of course, attached as the producer, while Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Mary Livanos, and Matthew Jenkins served as executive producers.
