A rumour did the rounds earlier today that the first trailer for The Marvels would be released tomorrow, and Marvel Studios has now made it official with a brief teaser.

There's no actual footage from the MCU sequel, unfortunately, but the promo does contain some audio from the trailer.

It sounds like Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau saying, "Hello?" and "What the?," with Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury chiming in to ask where Captain Rambeau is.

The trailer will premiere during tomorrow's episode of Good Morning America on ABC, so it'll probably be online sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. ET.

Though specific plot details are still under wraps, we have heard that the sequel will focus on the three heroes trading places every time they use their powers. They then decide to join forces in an attempt to fix their problem.

The Marvels is also rumoured to include some full-on musical numbers, but that's yet to be confirmed.

British actress Zawe Ashton (Fresh Meat, Velvet Buzzsaw) is on board as the main villain, who is rumored to be a gender-swapped take on Kree warrior Ael-Dan. In addition, Samuel L. Jackson has confirmed that he will appear as Nick Fury.

Nia DaCosta, who also helmed the Ms. Marvel season finale's post-credit scene, will direct from a script by WandaVision writer Megan McDonnell.

This movie is a coin toss.

A lot of average or below average from Marvel recently.

I could see this being a shocker though and end up being good.

@Amaru - given this was filmed during the pandemic (and forced to reschedule a bit) I don't have the highest of hopes. Disjointed filming during the pandemic has lead to disjointed films for the most part. Very little filmed during lockdowns has come out good. This was moved back so it wasn't as strong when they filmed, but it's still in it.

@Itwasme - strong disagree. Some of the most creative film making in modern times has taken place during and since the pandemic. Sometimes from the struggle of limitation is birthed true creative genius. Some of the best films of all time were made before we mastered CGI, due to those limitations requiring ingenuity and innovation.

@TheVandalore - what is a good example of a film that was shot during the pandemic that turned out really exceptional?

@Itwasme - I shot a duck and filmed the cooking during pandemic. The duck meat wad exceptional...

@Itwasme - well for starters, and this is just off the top of my head, but Black Widow is hands down a modern masterpiece. 👌 just sayin 😎

Itwasme - 4/11/2023, 12:51 AM
@TheVandalore - sure. Even that was filmed before the pandemic, but whatever you wish.

@Itwasme - that was a joke. My God man. You think anyone thinks Black Widow was hands down a modern masterpieces? Lol

@TheVandalore - wasn't hard to pick up on the joke. You seemed to be making a point and then fumbled the landing imo. My reaponse to the BW comment was really just one big eye roll.

@Itwasme - I made my point. Then I was just joking around, cuz shit ain't that serious. This ain't a proving ground, kid. Nobody fumbled shit. If I felt like combating your reply, I would have. Still could right now.

But I'm not trying to do all that work. I'm not here to prove anything, and you are obviously combative and cranky. Just chill guy.

If you really want me to provide examples, I will. I didn't want to, and felt like just joking around... but if you want to be a price and have me school you with examples, keep going.

@TheVandalore - I asked for one. I don't deny that overcoming obstacles leads to more creativity, but the industry wasn't able to adapt quickly enough. Films like Top Gun and Everything, Everywhere All at Once were all shot before the lock downs. The first film to begin shooting during the lock downs were the MI films and they were forced to push those back significantly as a result. You made the claim that the lock downs led to the most creative film making in years and you can't even name one? I was legitimately curious, but whatever.

TheVandalore - 4/11/2023, 6:42 PM
@Itwasme - without googling, because I'm sure there are lists you could easily find if you tried.... the film Malcom and Marie imminently came to mind.

Now you have one.

Itwasme
Itwasme - 4/11/2023, 8:44 PM
@TheVandalore - so let's be honest about that... not exactly a movie that set the world alight critically or in terms of popularity - which is fine. We can agree to disagree about the pandemic being the most creative period of filmmaking in modern times.

Still, blockbusters like this have struggled. Now John Wick 4 and Dungeons and Dragons have been strong, and those were filmed near the time this was, so perhaps the lockdowns weren't as impactful at that time, or films had learned to adapt by then, but still I remain skeptical given the challenges other films have faced.

Zawe Ashton playing a gender-bent Kree warrior the general audience has never heard of? First Ayo in Thunderbolts, now her?! The MCU is wasting their possible Storm castings before they even introduce her.

Anyways, I'm mostly seeing this film for Kamala, the possible musical element, and to see if Brie gets any better as this character.

UncleHarm1 - 4/10/2023, 6:15 PM
@FilmGuy7878 - Do you have any idea how many actresses of color there are?? Marvel has used maybe a 10th of a percent of them. Chill...

Race/gender swapping is the best way to see more of them get hired. I'd be more concerned about them running out of white male actors at this point lol
Origame
Origame - 4/10/2023, 6:29 PM
@UncleHarm1 - or, you know, adapt the plethora of characters that actually are people of color.

Look what I found with a quick Google search:

@FilmGuy7878 - hell yeah for kamala...and i would really like to see brie's marvel, i guess, relax a little?, and just be herself, whatever that is...i don't know, her character, other than her origin movie, has been pretty closed off, and we know nothing about what she has been doing and who she is now...unless this movies shows all that, then i will shut my mouth and enjoy the ride...i am also looking forward to monica rambeau, who i loved as captain marvel in the avengers, where i first saw her...and what the hell, musical numbers?...i will try not to let my expectations run away with me, but it all sounds fabulous...i think when the xmen do arrive, everyone will be blown away...by storm, lololol
