Ed Brubaker's Reaction To Finding Out About CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER

What happened when Ed Brubaker (the writer who created The Winter Solider) found out that the title of the Captain America: The First Avenger sequel is Captain America: The Winter Soldier? Well, his reaction on Twitter was a very simple one!

Like Gwen Stacy and Uncle Ben, Bucky was a character who it was always thought would stay dead. As World War II drew to a close, Captain America and his sidekick attempted to stop an experimental drone plane launched by Baron Zemo. Unfortunately, Bucky failed to disarm it and it blew up over the North Atlantic, seemingly killing him and resulting in Cap spending decades frozen in ice before being discovered by The Avengers. However, in 2005, writer Ed Brubaker and artist Steve Epting brought Bucky back as The Winter Soldier. It turned out that his one-armed body was discovered by the Russians, and the amnesiac hero was brainwashed (and implanted with a bionic arm) into becoming a Soviet assassin and put into stasis between missions. Eventually, he would regain his memories and take up the Captain America mantle, but "The Winter Soldier" arc is considered one of the greatest Captain America stories of all-time.

That's probably why fans were so excited when Marvel Studios announced the title of the Captain America: The First Avenger sequel at last night's San Diego Comic-Con; Captain America: The Winter Soldier. How did Ed Brubaker feel about this? Well, his reaction on Twitter yesterday was a very simple one indeed!
