Washington, DC Filming Details for CAPTAIN AMERICA 2

Indicating an action sequence unfolding in the 2014 Marvel sequel on a famous landmark in Washington, D.C., a Captain America: The Winter Soldier casting call has surfaced for the Capital City!

Despite filming for Captain America: The Winter Soldier using Los Angeles, CA, and Cleveland, OH, to double for Washington, DC, where the sequel’s plot is set in and around, there are plans for the Marvel production to shoot on-location in the Capital City. The D.C. Office of Motion Picture and Television Development site has now specified some of those plans. “Betsy Royall Casting, CSA will be casting the DC days for the movie, Freezer Burn. Filming will be Monday, May 13 - Thursday, May 16th. We are casting union and nonunion adults and kids (8 +). The 15th & 16th are the larger days. The 16th is the day we will be needing a lot of kids. ” More info here!

Furthermore, it seems we can also expect a big action sequence to unfold in Captain America: The Winter Soldier on D.C.’s famous Theodore Roosevelt Bridge. While the sequence will be filmed in Cleveland, shutting down its 3.5-mile West Shoreway highway for 17 days, the 2014 Marvel sequel will film bits on the actual Theodore Roosevelt Bridge next week. “On Sunday, May 5 there will be intermittent closing of the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge to allow for the filming of a major motion picture set in the District.” Even though Captain America: The Winter Soldier, or its working title Freezer Burn, isn’t named, “The Theodore Roosevelt Bridge plays an integral role in the storyline. Aerial photography will be used to capture various angels of the bridge. While in the nation’s capital the production company will film other iconic sites.” What do you think?

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” picks up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C. Starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp and Maximiliano Hernández with Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is directed by the team of Anthony and Joe Russo from a screenplay written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Alan Fine, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee. The creative production team on the film includes director of photography Trent Opaloch, production designer Peter Wenham, editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. and Mary Jo Markey, A.C.E. and three time Oscar®-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is set for release on April 4, 2014. In addition to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on other iconic Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!
