Art War: Leinil Francis Yu Vs. Jerome Opeña.

Two great Filipino comic book artist Leinil Francis Yu and Jerome Opeña have a very striking similarity when it comes to style. But if youre a DC or a Marvel editor, which artist will you choose and what comic book do you want them to draw?

I'm actually digging Jerome's art a bit more. Seems to be channeling a bit of Lee Weeks there.
And I love Lee Week's art.

I have to go with Jerome, always loved his work. Leinil's work is great, but I don't think I've ever seen him do any emotion other than :| or D:<, maybe a >:D once. Just seems like he's still developing as an artist to me.

@ ZombieOverEasy:

I haven't read anything he's done with marvel besides hulk vs wolverine, but when Yu did Superman: Birthright, he really does a great job with depicting emotional range.

I've always loved Yu's art (how could he make those art? Tried to replicate it for years, do not even succeed until now) and more used to his, but this is my first time to ever see Opeña's art, and...wow. That's quite stunning if you ask me.

Both share the similar style indeed, but Opeña's also slightly resembles John Romita Jr.'s (see that Uncanny X-Force page) - not a bad thing at all, while Yu's more original in my opinion. Can't tell who wins.

I'm all for Leinil Yu. I've been an admirer of his work many for years, and I really don't think Opeña's work is similar in any way. He's good, but there's no comparison.

Leinil Francis Yu. I especially loved his run on Wolverine during the late 90s-early 2000s. Badass art work

Not a big fan of either. I'm a fan of MAD and Ramos but if I had to choose one or the other it would be YU.

Leinel is a damn good artist. I remember talking to him at Comic-Con a few years ago and he said he's still trying to figure out how to draw women, which is a more common problem for comic artists than you realize.I also asked him if there was one dream character he'd like to tackle. The answer:Batman. Can't wait to see that in the future....

Yu's style got old fast, it works for some things but usually it doesnt. i HATED his work on New Avengers and Ultimate Avengers.
Opena's work is outstanding, there are times in Uncanny X-Force where it almost resembles Moebius (which i mean as an enormous compliment).
