Check Out A Featurette From The NIGHTBREED Director's Cut Blu-ray Release

As a Halloween treat for fans of Clive Barker's underrated horror flick, Scream Factory, in collaboration with Morgan Creek, will finally release the highly sought after director's cut of Nightbreed on Oct 28. Take a look at a bonus feature vid containing some previously unseen footage.

If you haven't heard of Nightbreed, it's Clive Barker's ambitious adaptation of his novel Cabal. It stars David Cronenberg as serial killing psychiatrist Dekker and Craig Sheffer as his patient Boon, framed for his murders. Shot down by the cops, Boon is resurrected in the secret mythical city of Midian - "where the monsters go" - and joins its denizens as they defend the gates of the city against the "real monsters". It's a decent, underrated, but admittedly uneven movie, spawned from a far superior novel and Epic (remember them?) comic series. Apparently the film was drastically interfered with by its studio (they cut it down to under 90 minutes) and has always been the subject of controversy, and rabid fan speculation as to "what may have been". Now the full 2-hour director's cut will be released on DVD and Blu-ray for the very first time tomorrow. Click on the image below to watch a very interesting featurette.

I saw the "Cabal Cut" two years ago in a movie festival. I haven't seen the original cut, but I did like this version. If you like Hellraiser & Wishmaster give it a watch!

I'd be interested in seeing the longer cut version. It always did seem to have some really abrupt and nonsensical bits in the original release.

I downloaded this a few weeks ago. Much better than the theatrical cut. It's not the Cabal cut unfortunately.

$24.99 according to Amazon.

Also, I just started reading Cabal.

And, lastly, I'm looking forward to The Scarlet Gospels coming out next year. It contains the conclusion to Pinhead's story.
