These look like 616 Avengers...what did I miss? How are these the new ultimates? Galactus isn't bugs?

@TheMadman

I believe they are the 616 universe characters and this is the 616 universe. I believe for the most part the Ultimate universe is dead hell even Miles Morales is in the 616 universe now. So this is just a team of Avengers calling themselves the Ultimates.

I like this line up for the team. Black Panther and Captain Marvel are always great to have on a team and I really liked the Blue Marvel mini series I read when I still bought comics so seeing more of him is awesome. Spectrum has rarely been used for years now even though she was a huge member of the Avengers during the 80's leading the team for a while so good to see her. The only member I know nothing about is Miss America.

There is no 616 anymore, nor is there the Ultimate Universe. The two universes were caught in an incursion at the start of Secret Wars, and what we've been told is that the end of Secret Wars creates one, singular universe. So this team is just the Ultimates in name only, it doesn't have a connection to the Ultimate Universe.

@pesmerga44
I dig the team line-up, too. Ms America is pretty cool, she's a Young Avenger from the Gillen/McKelvie run. The easiest comparison, I'd say, is she's similar, tonally, to Kamala Khan.

@HurricaneXavier

I believe this is the 616 universe since Spectrum aka Monica Rambeau was never introduced in the Ultimate universe and neither was Blue Marvel. For the most part the Ultimate universe is dead Miles Morales the most popular character from the Ultimate universe is now in the 616 universe.

@staypuffed

Okay so this Secret Wars was really their version of Crisis on Infinite Earths removing the vast majority of the multiverses.

What are her powers? Are they the usual enhanced strength, endurance, agility, speed, etc... set up or something else?

If they interrupt him during "X-Box time", then Galactus will NOT be amused.

Blue Marvel got costume-trendy. I'm really glad Marvel has been using him more in comics lately. Him and Monica. I like Monica's outfit. I thought Chavez would have gotten a new outfit for this book, but no matter.

Isn't ending Galactus' world eating like a big NO-NO? I mean, he is registered as one of the Universal Functions. Like a natural part of the universal body. I'd hate to see what the universe would be forced to cook up to rebalance itself with Galactus permanently out of the equation.

I would gladly give hand jobs to everyone here if it meant we could see Galactus on the big screen or even if it didn't.

@TheMadman The Ultimate Universe is gone and dead. I think Ultimate Reed Richards and Miles Morales might be the only notable characters to have survived. This book is simply taking on the title of the previous series and nothing else about it is related to the old series. Nothing.

@ScionStorm

I really doubt they are killing Galactus off this is just a hook to get people to buy the issues. If they really were going to kill off Galactus they would have done it in the Secret Wars more of a punch there then randomly here.

@pesmerga44
Yeah, this being Marvel's Crisis is a solid way of putting it!

As for Ms America, she's got the usual strength/durability, plus flight, as well as this power where she can travel through the multiverse. Pretty neat stuff.

That Fugees variant though... was killing me for a bit trying to remember what it was inspired by. I can dig this though. They'd wipe the floor with the Pandvengers I think.

"America Chavez was raised by her mothers in the Utopian Parallel, a dimension out of time and in the presence of the Demiurge. She appears to have inherited or absorbed some or all of her superpowers from the Demiurge's ambient magical presence. When America was approximately six-years-old, the Utopian Parallel was threatened by destruction. America's mothers sacrificed themselves to seal the black holes pulling Utopia into the Multiverse resulting in their particles being smeared across the Multiverse itself. Wanting to prove herself as a hero and knowing Utopia didn't require salvation, America ran away from her home and her responsibilities.[12][13] She travelled across different dimensions, eventually adopted the moniker of Miss America, and began covertly acting as a superhero."

She has Super Strength, Durability, Flight...

And the ability to kick open holes in reality as a way to travel across the multiverse and other dimensions. Can you figure out what her role on the team is going to be, yet?

Also, Monica and Adam have been getting a lot of screen time in Marvel comics lately as prominent members of the Mighty Avengers comic.

@pesmerga44 It says "Ending the threat" That doesn't necessarily mean they are going to kill him.

Wish they had worked in a Cuban Linx cover, but I'm just satisfied there's a Return to the 36 Chambers cover. I just wish it was for Deadpool, no Howard. He seems like more of a dirty bastard.

@ Shapopojoe - Just because you don't know the cahracters doesn't make them bad. Ms. America has been around for a while now, had stints in the recent A-Force comic (which got rave reviews) and was part of the second run of Young Avengers that featured Young Loki.

@ DoctorDoomSayer - I agree, I love the character but I think Blue Marvel is a very Retro name, that being said, I think him keeping his original name for the public is a statement saying he has fully embraced his role as a hero and isn't hiding and is also fully embracing his past.

I am really looking forward to this book. it's a great powerful team with a clear goal. I can't wait to see what this turns into and who else gets involved. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that they will realize that Galactus is a necessary evil, and will work towards finding uninhabited planets for him, while patrolling the galaxy. I am hoping for a run in with the Guardians asap.

@ ScionStorm - 100% Agree! When I saw they were both on this team and then the rest of the line up I was like, BRILLIANT!!
