COMICS: Damian Wayne Set To Return As ROBIN In New Miniseries

He's not coming back to life...at least, not exactly! A new miniseries titled Damian: Son of Batman will actually take place in a "what if" future, but it still may eventually tie in to the resurrection of the character. Click on for details and cover art.

As any Bat-fan will know, young Damian Wayne was killed off fairly recently in Batman Incorporated #8 and there have been no signs that DC plan a resurrection for the character until now. But, Damian: Son of Batman -- which will be written and drawn by Andy Kubert -- will be set in a "possible future that may never be," so won't actually be canon with the current New 52 universe..for the time being! If DC do ever intend to bring back the character this could of course serve as a gateway to do it. The story will spin off from Batman #666, which featured an adult version of Damian operating as Batman.

[frick]. The only reason he's Robin is because he's Bruce kid. Even Jason earned the title.

Either way Dick & Tim are the only Robins that matter in the main universe. Stephanie didnt do anything but die and Jason is only known for be killed by Joker.

Cool, not that I'm a big fan of Damien but DC is really being new and creative with their titles.

Justice League 3000, Superman/Wonder woman, now this, good for them.

agreed @Dellamorte1872 those will always be the best, and all equal in greatness as they all have different reasons for being the best so you can number them.

He made the character interesting. It was also good that for chance Batman couldn't choose his partner.

I don't think there should be another Robin after Damien.

I'm getting tired of seeing kid after kid Batman takes in killed or works with him. Makes Batman look like Jerry Sandusky with all these kids.

Dick is the best one because unlike all the sidekicks Batman has, he and Bruce have a deeper connection in that they both saw their parents die in front of their eyes. No other Bat sidekick has that. Tim is good to and Barbara but that's it. Terry too but he isn't a sidekick.

In the Batman Reboot, I think it's best to skip or not do Jason Todd. The only interesting thing about Jason is that he turns into the Red Hood. At the same time Red Hood is too similar to another Batfoe who is far more interesting on the big screen:

I rather have no Jason and have Hush on the big screen. Hush is a great villain and Red Hood is just like Hush in the way that he knows who Batman is and stalks him in the night but Hush is just way better.

While I don't care if Jason makes it to the screen, I will say that he has more then earned his place in the long history of the batman mythos.

It's comments like these that remind me this really isn't a comic site. Opinions are just so different from what's going on other places. I love it, I don't mind seeing people argue. Give me differing opinions any day.

Now for me, Batman and Robin volume 1 is my all time favorite Batman run. So Damian is always going to be at least my second favorite Robin. He had grown a lot and he's not the same little prick he was before.

Funny that Levi dismisses him as being Robin only because he's Bruce's son. He's actually the ONLY Robin who should realistically be Robin. He was raised by assassins and was brought up to take over the world.

He's intelligent and can fight better than any other Robin when they first took over the job.

Fantastic character that has a lot more to offer, really hope he returns in the normal universe,

I would love to see Red Hood on screen but with flash backs of Young Jason.

But there are too many Robins for the screen, so Dick is the only one should be used!

"[frick]. The only reason he's Robin is because he's Bruce kid. Even Jason earned the title."

No. The only reason he was a Robin is because Dick Grayson made him a Robin. And then, guess what? He actually did earn it. Big time.

"Either way Dick & Tim are the only Robins that matter in the main universe. Stephanie didnt do anything but die and Jason is only known for be killed by Joker."

This part isn't too far from the truth (particularly as Stephanie Brown seems to be persona non grata in the DCnU and to date may not actually exist. Her, Wally West and Donna Troy. DiDio is milking the "jerking the fans' chain" potential out of those three for all they're worth.

Either way, it's good to see something with Damian again (though he'll always be more amusing as a pugnacious little bastard than a grown up).

@sintzu

Damian's future as Batman only happens if Bruce dies and stays dead. Since DC will never really kill Bruce then this book must take place in a world where that happens.

I will say, I do like that Kubert is on the book. He did do Superman: Last Son and I love that.

At least a good writer is on it.

I always thought that Damien's uniform sucked, with tim's 2nd one (the all red with black "bat" cape) being the best. But Damien's character was interesting with his bad attitude setting him apart from the others

I 100% hated Damian's character until I started reading the new 52 Batman and Robin. The chemistry he has with his father is really a great thing to read. Was sad to see him go. Not as excited for this as I could be, wish this was more about his training and younger years. I may give it a read though

In a what if future? What if DC just [frick]ed off and died. None of what DC does now means shit. If you like it good luck to you. As a reader of only DC comics for well over 30 years it all sucks cock now.
