COMICS: Details On The Intriguing WE ARE ROBIN Post-New 52 Series

Last month, DC Comics confirmed that this June would see the comic publisher shut the door on the New 52 era and shift to one where "story trumps continuity". Here are details on one of the new, exciting titles emerging, 'We Are Robin' - no Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake or Damian Wayne.

It's time for a new type of Batman - Boy Wonder. At least, that's the premise from the team of writer  Lee Bermejo and artists Rob Haynes and Khary Randolph. Their intriguing, We Are Robin series will not feature Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown or Damian Wayne.  Instead, the lead of the series will be Duke Thomas, a young African-American teenager who made his comic book debut in Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's Batman: Zero Year.  Duke is a key figure in the "Robin Movement" a group of  Gotham teens who make it their mission to protect and serve their city.

Bermejo told USA TODAY that 'We Are Robin' is a "chance to expand the Robin character past teenage white kids who all look the same." Bermejo has stated that the series will also explore just why Batman would ever allow teenagers into his dangerous world of crime-fighting.

'We Are Robin' will be released this June.
