Coming in May, DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 “Second Wave” will literally expand the world-building efforts of the comprehensive publishing initiative. With the addition of a parallel Earth that features prominently into both EARTH 2 and WORLDS’ FINEST, the developing narrative will encompass new heroes from distinctly different backgrounds, building on the shared universe in some surprising ways.

“Helena Wayne has been taught how to be the perfect Robin,” said James Robinson, writer of EARTH 2. “Assured as a detective, fighter, scientist, pilot and all around crime-fighter she’s been groomed by Batman to be the perfect caped manhunter (or should we say manHuntress) when she grows up.”

“Before coming to the main DCU Earth and taking up the mantle of Huntress, Helena Wayne fought crime alongside her father as the Robin to his Batman on Earth-2!” said WORLDS’ FINEST editor Wil Moss. “But how did she come to be on this Earth? And why did she decide to become Huntress? You’ll get some clues in next week’s HUNTRESS #6, but for the real scoop, pick up WORLDS’ FINEST #1!”

Here’s a first look at the Robin of Earth 2, designed by Kevin Maguire.

Earth-Two is a fictional universe appearing in American comic book stories published by DC Comics. First appearing in The Flash #123 (1961), Earth-Two was created to explain how Silver-Age (Earth-One) versions of characters such as the Flash could appear in stories with their Golden Age counterparts. This Earth-Two continuity includes DC Golden Age heroes, including the Justice Society of America, whose careers began at the dawn of World War II, concurrently with their first appearances in comics. Earth-Two, along with the four other surviving Earths of the DC Multiverse, are merged into one in the 1985 miniseries Crisis on Infinite Earths.

DC Comics recently announced a new series called "Earth 2" which will take place on this version of Earth-2. Another series "World's Finest" will star the Earth 2 versions of Power Girl and the Huntress.

The ongoing Huntress mini issues have been GREAT!!! I would much rather have her stay as The Huntress!!!

Well this isn't a surprise, if you look at the cover of Worlds Finest #1, you can see behind The Huntress that she is was Robin for a time

@wildaniel: she is staying as Huntress, there just showing the design for flashbacks when she "WAS" robin, not that she is going to be again.....

Haha. It's kinda cool. Should really have more than a domino mask, though. I always thought that was a pathetic excuse for a disguise. I really like the Arkham City design with the hood - that was a cool way to go about it. At least it's not rampantly sexist, and no bare legs on a crimefighter... so definitely good enough XD

I haven't read Huntress, but wasn't the point of the DC reboot to get rid of all the muck that having a bunch of alternate universes creates? I'm kinda shocked that their bringing in Earth 2 story lines so quickly. I thought we'd spend a solid year at least just within this universe getting it established. Goddamnit.

A girl Robin has certainly been done before. The Huntress as Robin could be an interesting twist, but that costume is freaking stupid looking. Big "R" kneepads? Layered leggings or whatever those things are called? Nikes for footwear? The '90s called and they want this look back.

If she is supposed to be the daughter of batman, i wonder how old he is on that earth, whoever he is (exept if my adoptive daughter theory is right)

So, is Dick Nightwing in this Earth 2? He was still Robin in the last one. Why have Helena Wayne in this book when she will be in Worlds Finest? Are they not going to have continuity?
If they have Helena Wayne running around Earth 1, they better still have Helena Bertalini and not just write her off.

The drawing is not bad. I like that DC is making more female Robins. Also, a brunette, female Robin.

When the name Robin comes up in a DC comics context, Carrie Kelly and Stephanie Brown are the only names that come to mind. In fact, Stephanie Brown should have been THE DLC Robin for Arkham City (IMHO).

@teabag- LMAO

@Nomis- The Stages of Nomism are awesome. lol

As far as I can see, Helena is going to remain the Huntress. She started her career as Robin, sidekick to Batman. It makes me curious about the fate of Dick Grayson, but I suppose we'll find out what happened to him. Anyway, it says Helena became the Huntress AFTER leaving Earth-2. I see no reason she would ever go back to being Robin.

I've always liked the female robin. Just makes sense because no self respecting teenage male would want the code name robin. "Uh, batman, can uh, I go by Phoenix Dark or something instead of Robin? Anything but Robin"

Yes, when they decided to start with the new DC52 universe they said it would simplify things and events. They never said that they would do away with the multiverse and parallel earths. This way some otger heroes such as the JSA and others would be on their own timelines.

The costume doesn't look too bad. I'm sure it will get some tweaks here and there.

Also, Earth-1 Robin's counterpart in England is a girl. Unless, they did away with Knight and Squire in the new 52 reboot.

@SuperArgo Oh shoot, Kate Upton has some moves. :)

robin would work better as a female sidekick, when i think of tough male characters that are named after birds they end up being birds of prey not a robin.
