COMICS: Earth’s Mightiest Reforged - First Look at UNCANNY AVENGERS #1

The tragedy at the end of Avengers & X-Men: AXIS has left the Uncanny Avengers vulnerable. The Avengers Unity Squad as we know it has been decimated – and someone is taking advantage of it! Biding his time, one of the Avengers oldest foes has returned. Why now? And what does it have to do with the reborn Avengers Unity Squad?

What is Counter-Earth? What secrets does it hold? An unlikely alliance of Avengers & X-Men will form, seeking answers. Only what they find will in all likelihood destroy the lives of two of its own members. To brave Counter-Earth, the new Uncanny Avengers – Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Vision, Captain America, Rogue, Brother Voodoo and a now-heroic Sabretooth must stand together, or perish alone.

As tensions run high and the secrets of Counter-Earth are laid bare, will this new Unity Squad’s first mission be their last? The answers lie in the explosive debut of UNCANNY AVENGERS #1, coming to comic shops and digital devices this January!

I'm sorta digging the new Vision look. Also, this is another reason why I like sticking with solo titles.

I don't know Vision has a DCish look ala Mister Miracle or Red Tornado.

This new roster is so conveniently aligned with the MCU. This is why I'm not a fan of the Avengers comic book storylines.

Every costume redesign for Quicksilver keeps bringing him closer and closer to the 1980's Whizzer...

Speedsters have got to be the hardest characters to design costumes for, because they all pretty much end up looking the same... :(

Quicksilver and Witch's uniform designs are useless. I've also never had any time for Vision- he's like a lame Manhunter... and Manhunter was lame already.

don't like Rogue but like her costume.

Sabretooth as new wolverine should be awesome and should have turnd 'Wolverine' back into a badass again..... but he's all inverted....

Throw in Captain Makes-No-Sense-To-Be-The-New-Captain-America and needless to say I shall not be reading this one :-P

How does Falcon being Cap not make sense?

@Demiurge

Its the same amount of MCU characters that are in the 1st Uncanny Avengers run. Its 4. So if you're trying to insinuate that there is more somehow you're wrong.

Everybody may be right on this looking bad, HOWEVER please keep in mind people this is still Remender writing the book. You know, same guy who does Deady Class, Low, the good Uncanny X-Force, and the amazing first run of Uncanny Avengers. RICK REMENDER people. C'mon. Deadly Class is the beez knees!

@Matador I hear ya, but it's kinda cool that it's not a "new" costume but her old villian costume.

@brocksamson

IMO Captain America's replacement had to be chosen on leadership skills and combat skillset.

As far as I'm aware Falcon hasn't led any teams during his time in comics. He had usually been a second tier character who was submissive in team-ups of two heroes never mind whole Avengers teams. I don't see where he is supposed to have acquired tactical knowledge to lead teams either- in 616 (unless it's been retconned) he didn't have a military background and as i say hasn't set strategies for teams in the past.

In addition his skillset- flight and talking to birds, doesn't lend itself to Captain America who has a history of leading from the front and as a symbolic rallying point.

Also I believe that after Civil War it was established that is was very VERY difficult to use Cap's shield. So much so that only someone with Hawkeye's ability to spot the angles or Bucky's mechanical arm could use it effectively.

I think Hawkeye would have ticked all the boxes- he led the West Coast Avengers, has the skillset and was a rallying point for heroes during Dark Reign.

I also think Luke Cage, Carol Danvers, Bucky, or any number of X-men/avengers tick more of these boxes. Even Thor since he's no longer worthy of he hammer.

Falcon is fine for making headlines but I think if they had considerred their options as Cap/heroes would have done in real life I don't think he would be first choice for the role.

SpockOClock - Whizzer actually came out in the 40s...not the 80s...he got a lame name since Flash beat him by a few months...I love the "Liberty Legion" - its a guilty pleasure! ;-)
