"FAT MAN ON BATMAN!

SPOILERS: This Walt Flanagan splash page showcases the Dark Knight and the unnerving Onomatopoeia from ish 1 of the forthcoming conclusion to our New York Times Best-Selling Batman cycle!

A few years back, DC Comics made my dream come true when they let me do a BATMAN comic book mini-series with one of my best friends - COMIC BOOK MEN Stash manager, Walt Flanagan.

It started with BATMAN: CACOPHONY...

It continued with BATMAN: THE WIDENING GYRE...

And in 2013, the blood will run in the final chapter of the battle between Batman and Onomatopoeia ...

BATMAN: BELLICOSITY
Summer, 2013"

Yeah Flanagan's art has come so far. If you see his old work on IDW titles "Karney" and "War of The Undead" (written by tv costar Bryan Johnson) and then from Cacaphony to Gyre...and now this great splash page. Looking forward to it.

Heard mixed things about Smith's Batman comics, but it'll be nice to FINALLY learn what the whole deal with Onomatopoeia is.

stunned by the amount of excitement and love for any of this. Cacophony was painful to read.

@norrinraddical...

thank god you posted because I was [frick]ing loosing my mind here...

how any of the above people could have enjoyed CACOPHONY is just [frick]ing astonishing. it is one of - if not THE - worst batman story i have ever read in my life. maybe just one of the worst pieces of shit i have ever read.

making his joker a sexually charged maybe bi-sexual maybe gay being was not only unecessary but horribly executed and just not funny or entertaining whatsoever. it was a horrible [frick]ing read with absolutely zero redeeming qualities within its pages. i can't even remember if i liked the art or not because the read was so god [frick]ing awful.

christ what a piece of shit that story was. i remember fuming after the first read and then ripping it in half and throwing it away after the 2nd.

im pretty much a smith fan, but that venture of his was ridiculously stupid. sorry to rant, but norrinraddical thank you for letting me not be the only sane person who found that book painfully horrible to read.

one for the road guys. from fat man himself:

"I’ve been writing this Batman: The Widening Gyre miniseries, and I’m stoned all the time when I’m writing it. And, I swear, I’ll write it, and then, it’s not so much blackout, but forget, so much so that the next morning, I go to read what I wrote, and it’s, like, I’m that cobbler and elves came and wrote it in the night, because I’m, like, "This is better than anything I’ve ever written before." I mean, like, I’ve done comics, but this is way better."...

and he gets paid very very well to jerk off in this manner. guys we cannot pay for this or allow any of our friends to pay for it.

F.uck Fatty smith and his pants wetting Batman. He needs to stop hiring his friends for the art first of all, 2nd, I totally think his interpretation of Batman sucks, he just regurgitates everything Frank Miller does (who is also totally overrated). Is it just that he's a marginally famous geek that he gets to be a comic writer? Cuz I'm sure theres tons on totally unknown geeks that could do a much better job.
