COMICS: Andy Diggle Confirms ACTION COMICS Departure Via Twitter; Tony Daniel To Take Over

DC has made a very big deal out of promoting Andy Diggle (Daredevil) and Tony Daniel's (Detective Comics) upcoming run on Action Comics, but the writer has now confirmed that he will be leaving the series for "professional reasons". Daniel will take over as writer to finish the arc.

Andy Diggle will no longer be taking over as writer of Action Comics from Grant Morrison. While it's safe to assume that the issues he has written will be released, DC has confirmed that artist Tony S. Daniel will take over writing duties in order to finish what would have been their first arc together. It remains to be seen whether he will continue to both write and pencil the series after this as he did with Detective Comics. Below are the Tweets in which the Daredevil and Thunderbolts writer confirmed that he had decided to step down. How do you guys feel about this news?

Tony daniel is a really good artist but a terrible writer. His first arc on detective was meh and I dropped it as soon as the first arc was over.

Well he may be a so-so writer, but Daniel's Superman does look pretty tough

Pathetic, but par for the DC course. But hey, just keep buying the books.

BTW - the new GL writer has also quit...before even writing an issue.

DiDio & Johns strike again!

It's high time the higher-ups started cracking editorial heads at DC.

Dude...the higher-ups are the problem. Nobody wants to work with them. The only ones higher are WB, and as long as the $$$ comes in, they couldn't care less.

This is just disappointing, why is it so hard to get writers to stick around when it comes to this character, (especially if they expressed in enthusiasm for it. I would've like to see what Diggle would've done for more then a one arc story arc and now we are not even getting that. Geez do they want Snyder's series to be the only Superman comic of interest, talk about annoying.

Superman is in desperate need of good writers right now that's for sure. The ones that "got" him don't seem to be around anymore or retired, or moved to marvel or just on to something else in DC. I mean come on, what does it take?

Wasn't Daniel responsible for that issue of Detective Comics a while back that was only 12 pages long? Yeah, this sucks indeed.

I noticed DC is keeping a real tight control over their continuity. I bet for writers it must feel very restricting being told what not to do.
