COMICS: DC Comics Cancels 6 Titles

Deathstroke, The Fury of Firestorm: The Nuclear Man, The Ravagers, The Savage Hawkman, Sword of Sorcery and Team 7 will all be going on a trip to see the big publisher in the sky this May. The doors now open for a host of new titles and characters.

Deathstroke, The Fury of Firestorm: The Nuclear Man, The Ravagers, The Savage Hawkman, Sword of Sorcery and Team 7 all canceled and will be wrapping up their respective runs in May.

Ending in April are I, Vampire and DC Universe Presents. Right now, with Scott Snyder's Man of Steel, Justice League of America, Vibe and Katana coming down the pipeline, that still leaves 8 spots open (with one of those going to Man of Steel, probably) thanks to previous cancellations so look for new title announcements to appear in the coming weeks. Specifically, look for two new titles to debut in May and five to premiere in June. In one of the links below, you'll find some of my suggestions for replacement titles.

THE FOURTH WAVE

Cancelled: "G.I. Combat" cancelled in December. "Blue Beetle," "Grifter," "Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E." and "Legion Lost" all ended in January

New Series: Threshold #1 (Jan 16th), Justice League of America #1 (February 20thth), Katana #1 (February 13th), JLA's Vibe #1 (February 20th), Constantine #1 (March 13th )

THE FIFTH WAVE

Cancelled: I, Vampire and DC Universe Presents ending in April, Deathstroke, The Fury of Firestorm: The Nuclear Man, The Ravagers, The Savage Hawkman, Sword of Sorcery and Team 7 end in May

New Series: Snyder and Lee's Man of Steel, ???

Shame that Deathstroke is being cancelled. Not that it's any good, I'm just a fan of the character.

Possible books? Booster Gold, Robin, Sinestro, The Brave and the Bold...any ideas?

Man, they really don't give these titles much of a chance, huh? Aggressive marketing. Sheesh. Amethyst and Team 7 and such have, like, just come out!

Team 7 was a prequel, so it had an expiration date from the beginning.

I've been a Firestorm fan since the mid-70's. I'm diggin' the way they re-shaped this character, the art is pretty good, and the story line is getting much better. WHHHHYYYYYYY????

Suppose it was sales, but with this economy, any new title will just suffer the same fate. "Hope" for a cool new book, and because of low sales, they will "Change".

I've dropped from 15-20 books from Pre-New 52 to 12 Post-New 52, and now down to 8 (w/ this news), and will most likely drop further in the near future.

You know what forget you DC/Wildstorm (I believe it is) I liked Grifter and you cancelled it, I liked Team 7 which isn't even 6 issues in and you're canceling it. How about you think before releasing a new title and do it as a Mini-Series that way you can have 4-6 issues with a conclusion then if it did well start the new on going series you JERKS! Seriously Grifter was great and Team 7 ain't half bad either...

I feel sort of bad for Sword of Sorcery. I really want a good fantasy series. I think that it if was more of an anthology series that focused on various magical characters like DC Universe Presents except not canceled. Hopefully Amethyst will stay around in JLD

in all honesty dc will go then marvel

ill eat my hat if superman is better than any of the marvel studio movies or if any of the second wave marvel movies are better than iron man two.
