It looks like that truck is going to fall backwards

But I love Hitch's work - he should have redesigned the new 52

I love Hitch's art, but this cover isn't that exciting to look at. Would like to see him do a whole run on a Superman title.

Steverogersson- Agreed. Glad to see someone else who hates Morrison as much as I do.

I really wish he would just write a straightforward or AT LEAST a cohesive story for a change rather than all this horrible jumping all over the place crap. Guy cant write a superman story with spit.

steve- I like Waid a lot, and Bendis is my current favorite writer because the the nuances of conversation he captures in his style. Geoff Johns is also good a JMS's Spiderman stuff (Superman grounded was pretty lame thoug I appreciate what he was trying to do.) Jurgens too. Loeb used to be my favorite writer because of Long Halloween and Hush but his work at Marvel is just plain attrocious. Ultimates 3 and Ultimatum ruined him for me. Red Hulk put the last nail in the coffin.

As for Superman he can be interpreted many different ways and I am not bothered by that. The key is that they do him GOOD, something Morrison has failed spectacularly at. I love the boyscout aspect as monkey balls mentioned, and I like the lonely alien and defender of the common man. I love his infailable sense of good and evil and his ability to always rise to the occassion when the chips are down. That is the superman I've loved since I was a little kid. I think a good interpreations should include all of these aspects in Sups without emphasising any one of them more than the other. Few writers seem capable of doing this for some reason.

Take Spiderman. He's smart, hes goofy, hes an awkward teen and he has a lot of drama in his life. Some writers may emphasis his intelligence and inventing skills, others may make him a comedic character a la Deadpool, others a social misfit trying to make his way through school while trying to be a hero while others may focus on the tragedies of his life and make him a brooding hero. I think a good spiderman comic would feature all of these things in equal measure.

@Shadowelfz - Agreed. Morrison's interpretation of Superman has been wrong in every way. I understand they were aiming for a helping-the-common-man thing from the '30s/'40s, but that's not what I'm getting from this take. I'm getting 2nd-rate-1980s-Spider-Man stories, what w/him struggling to pay rent, having girl troubles, sneaking into his apt., etc.

I've only read a handful of the Morrison's New 52, and in I think THREE issues, Superman wasn't even in the book. What's the freakin' point?

Sure, there were issues of Morrison's Animal Man and DP where the main cast of characters weren't present, and I get that he's building a world here, but let's get to know THIS world. And give me some issues to actually LIKE this version of Superman. Because, so far, he's a friggin' bore. The only WORSE take on Superman, in the 30 years I've been reading comics, was JMS's Superman Walks A Lot storyline.

Bleh.

P.S. Disappointing cover by Hitch. You tell me Bryan Hitch is doing a Superman cover, I expect more than something we've seen about a THOUSAND times already.

And as others have said above, the layout is awkward -- the truck, the crowd, Superman's face...it's all off. He must've rushed this or maybe had a studio assistant do it for him.
