Well the gun could just be a hint to his past and not something he actually uses. Be interesting to see where this is headed as seems to play a part in the upcoming trinity war.

he is an arab with a tattoo meaning bravery. my guess is hes either a former taleban or a soldier from an arab country. either way the fact that ppl are complaining isnt going to matter because from what ive learnt if geoff johns has an idea abt writing something especially a character he created its gonna be amazing.

It's an interesting idea bringing in an Islamic hero after Nightrunner disappeared into the depths of the New 52. I guess DC are now trying to expand their minority groups through the Green Lantern concept which is actually pretty clever. The Green Lantern/Arrow comics of the 70s were known for tackling race relations and all kinds of subjects, John Stewart was one of the first major black comic book characters that gained mainstream recognition. Plus the most obvious reason is there is a corps of over 3600 aliens, varying wildly from each other so the GL character is a great way to showcase diversity as shown by Alan Scott of Earth-2 that may not be a member of the corps but still has the emblem. Sorry for the mini-essay.

i think its logical that dc finally decided to create earth lanterns from another place besides america i really hope they do the same thing with a female from an arab country for the red lanterns maybe taleban destroy her village and kill her daughter or whatever and then she gets a red ring and kills them all.

What bugging me is why is there another Earth lantern i thought GL rules was 1 lantern to 1 sector (which was later changed to 2 GL's per sector) but we all know why there 4 Earth lanterns so why would the guardians make another?

I'm all for diversity, but not when it isn't done right.

This character is a walking cliche of a stereotypical criminal. The soul patch isn't helping either.

I think the character is actually Middle Eastern not black. And why would would he even need a gun with the GL power ring? It doesn't make any sense.

I would put a shit load of money on it bring Stewart. He's facing SPOILER death penalty at the moment in 'Corps'. 'Green Lantern' is full of ex-convicts. This is probably just his return. Nothing sinister or new.

@Superfrost is probably closest with the prison part. Middle Eastern Muslims don't believe in getting tats its against their teachings. He could be a man who went to prison, joined the nation of Islam, and was chosen worthy by the ring. But it is all speculation and wild guesses because we are all going off of a picture. We don't know if it's stereotypical, racist, lame, or what until we see some panels and even then it is just opinion. And to those bitchin' about why does DC keep messing with green lantern, because it's theirs to do with as they please. There are over 7200 lanterns in the corps so guess what, they'll all be different. And Alan Scott isn't even that type of green lantern. There are gay people in this world, there are thugs, and there are suburbanites. They all deserve representation.
