COMICS: Peter Tomasi Joins SUPERMAN/WONDER WOMAN; Robins Rise In BATMAN & ROBIN

Writer Peter J. Tomasi's Batman and Robin has been a hit for DC Comics, and this November he'll also take a shot at writing the publisher's second most famous couple, Superman/Wonder Woman. The scribe, along with artist Doug Mahnke (Green Lantern, Justice League) will replace Charles Soule on the title and reintroduce Atomic Skull and Major Disaster; he says he wants to explore the meaning of their relationship. "I don't want to write 22 pages of them staring into each other's eyes with them going, 'Oh, I love you, Supes!' 'I love you, Wonder Woman!' I really want to shake it up," he explains. "It's not strong love if it's not tested. Anything with two hearts in mind, if they're not put at odds or built through hardships and tough times, I don't think they're real relationships."

Along with the reveal of this new creative team, USA Today also debuted Patrick Gleason's Batman and Robin #36 cover, which has Barbara Gordon, Jason Todd and Tim Drake all sporting a rather familiar costume. Tomasi's current Robin Rises storyline is exploring the death of Damian Wayne and a possible ressurection, but "all of these characters at this point are in the Robin mix. The Bat-family will, in the end, rise to the challenge of helping a new Robin come to be in the DCU." Are you excited to see what the new team brings to Superman/Wonder Woman, and what are your thoughts on the latest Robin Rises developments?

Why is batgirl in a robin suit when they could have just gotten Dick to put on the old red spandex.

Is the lasso/riata simply there now for the sake of being there? I never see WW using it on covers now, only a sword or spear.

I'd be pretty happy if Tim made a come-back as Robin. Having Barbara be Robin would be pretty sweet, too.

Can't stand "Robin(s)"...Red Hood should be a vigilante killer,not a team player.

@ManCalledSting

Yea,sidekicks annoy me...anyway,Red Hood should indeed be like DC's version of The Punisher.
He started out as a Robin so he may have been a creepy kid but still doing heroic stuff.
DC Villians need to have someone to really fear will kill them..Bats won't.

Superman/WW has been shit from beginning to end. Not even a change in writers is able to save that book.

I like Charles Soule. I've enjoyed his run on SM/WW. Thomasi is hot and cold for me. Robin rises has been very good, but the search for Robin or whatever it was called (the arc just b4 Rises) was terrible. Same thing with the art. Sometimes it works, but overall the faces look strange. Is he bringing over tge artist from batman and Robin?

The name Major Disaster kinda sums up the New 52 pretty well.

Sad Soule is leaving he's an awesome writer. But Tomasi is pretty good himself so hopefully it'll be good.

Switching out Daniels for Mahnke is definitely a down grade.
