Fox News Slams DC COMICS for Selling Sex and Violence to Children

The Washington D.C. Fox Affiliate ran a scathing piece on the state of DC Comics last night. During their report they focused on Catwoman and Batman's rooftop sexual romp and Starfire's busty makeover.

Seems like Fox News has rounded up some critics that accuse DC Comics relaunch of being too sexually charged. Even the violence has crossed the line into a darker realm. And these professional child psychologist warn that overexposure to images of blood, sex and violence will encourage young children to become much more aggressive.

I'm rolling my eyes as much as possible with this bull crap. Since I was younger I've heard about this nonsense. Do these psychologists really think cable television or the internet do not exist? I mean really! Come on! A child can turn on HBO nowadays and see all the sex and violence they like with full on nudity. But if a comic book suggest sex it will be the straw that broke the camels back? Get Real.

As an example of people bitching and moaning for decades about violence and believing children will become lords of Satan, just look at the video I included below the Fox video. It is of two men preaching that children that watch or read Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will turn into the anti-Christ.

"It's sort of like a fictionalized Playboy for kids at its worst," said Neil Bernstein, Ph.D., a child psychologist and author of "How to Keep Your Teenager Out of Trouble."

Both of those comics carried a T+ certification anyway, so FOX's argument is kinda off. They aren't being aimed at kids. Even IF a child happened to get a look, it's hardly gonna turn them into crazed perverts as these fools would have you believe.

This is how people don't pay attention, its a local news station not Fox News. People who don't realize the difference should not be writing the headlines to articles.

I never even see kids buying comics. I go every week, and it's always your same thirty something basement dwellers.

NOW they say they're being too sexual?! Good god, where has Fox been through the 90's? Bunch of hypocritical jackasses. Where were they when Jim Lee had his X-Men bikini book? Or Power Girl? Emma Frost? How about Storm walking around butt ass naked 90% of the time in the late 80's early 90'? God I hate media sometimes.

Isn't that why those titles have a T+ rating? It isn't for kids, it's for Teens +. Did they mention that on fox news? Fox News is nothing but a big joke.

Started reading comics to my son when he was three or four. He grew up wanting to be a hero. He's now a firefigher/paramedic. Spends his days of picking up shifts in ERs for extra money. He does seem to date women with big tits. Maybe these morons are half right.

This isn't fair. FOX has the most perverted and disgusting content in their shows Family Guy, American Dad and New Girl. Fox claims to be a Christian Republican network and yet they have gross content and they are going to try and misrepresent DC Comics?

I am a comic book geek who was raised on DC Comics and Superman as a child and I've been reading the New 52 and I haven't seen any pornographic content or gore in the comics save for the inappropriate material in the first issue of Catwoman but other than that the New 52 Comics have been clean and I enjoy them as does my younger sister. Of course my sister boycotts the Catwoman comics but I know for a fact that DC Comics isn't selling sex or porn or R rated violence. The comics are on the same level as a movie like Superman Returns or the TV shows Young Justice and Smallville.

Super Heroes, DC Comics and Marvel are entertainment for children and adults anyway. Is FOX mad?

Well that's stupid. They should be complaining about them having sucky comics, not the sex and violence.

Hasn't comics been through this before?

1) they're not meant for kids! they haven't been for the last 10-15 years!

2) why is it the only 2 kids they talked sounded like they only have been speaking English for about 2 or 3 years?

3) it is the PARENTS responsibility to monitor what their kids do, not DC Comics.

4) so who exactly is complaining here? I don't remember them saying in the video.

5) how is this any worse than something like Transformers? all they do is blow shit up and show some half-dressed chicks. parents don't seem to have a problem with Transformers (though I do believe that due to the language and sexuality, anyone under about 11 or 12 shouldn't watch em).

6) did they really compare Batman of the 60s to the Batman of now? had they made things "darker", there is no way the business would be where it is now.

berserkerbarnes is 100% correct... This is not Fox News... it's the local news... The title is absolutely misleading... Now if this were on Hannity or something yes that'd be correct, but since it's just a local news station reporting on people complaining about how racy the comics are it is not "Fox News"... I think the author should make that correction.

That being said... these people need to shut the [frick] up... Yes the comic books are racy... but if you don't want your kids reading this stuff be a [frick]ing parent! don't let them get it! it says right on the cover it's meant for teens... god forbid there be a product out there that our kids MIGHT get their hands on that will show them pictures of cartoons doing it... nevermind the fact that they've probably stumbled on dad's porn collection on the family computer... christ sakes...

7) Starfire has looked the same for 20+ years! all they did was ditch the perm.

8) that decapitated head they showed? THAT WAS A ROBOT!

serious question though: why was the Joker's face lying their? did he cut if off?

I'll prove it! Just let me unstick some of these pages and I'll prove it!

Oh I know... we should get them altogether and burn them. Oh wait they did that before.

Sex is natural get the f over it. So sick of people acting like sex is a bad thing or a "sin". Quit with the nonsense already.

Children barely read comics anyway they like video games

im not being funny but the reason i like comic books is because theyre for teenagers or adults, not for kids as much as people think and when i read a dark storyline it grips me more, in all fairness catwoman is my fave in the dc reboot and thats because of the edge, the character and the adult themes, next theyll be saying the plots in comics are far to complex for kids to understand, because ya gotta admit theres some brilliant twists in the comics lately
