COMICS: 2012 Set For Avengers #1 From Brian Michael Bendis And Mark Bagley?

COMICS: 2012 Set For Avengers #1 From Brian Michael Bendis And Mark Bagley?

We're not yet 20 issues into the current Avengers series from Marvel, but the latest rumor is that the release of the Joss Whedon directed movie will mean yet another comic book relaunch from the Ultimate Spider-Man creators...

With a movie on the way, it shouldn't exactly come as a surprise that Marvel are planning yet another relaunch to coincide with a big screen adaptation. Captain America, Iron Man and THOR all resulted in the debut of #1 comic books, and Earth's Mightiest Heroes are next according to a recent report.

Bleeding Cool has been told that around that time we may expect to see a new Avengers #1, by Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley, the creative team that brought us Ultimate Spider-Man and their new creator owned series, Brilliant!

So, how much do you want to bet that The Amazing Spider-Man will have a similar effect on the wall crawling superheroes comic book? I have to say, I'm not a fan of this idea that every time a new movie hits, we need a new #1 issue. I can appreciate that Marvel are trying to attract new readers, but at least including the original numbering somewhere on these comics would be nice for longtime readers/collectors I think. Be sure to share your thoughts below and stay tuned for more details as and when we have them...

Will be a good time for non comic book readers to jump on the comic bandwagon. It's obvious promotional to tie-in with the movies release (if true).

I don't mind either way.

Clean up the roster. keep all the main four, add spider-man. drop wolverine. from there i don't care. but it should seriosuly only be like 7-9 characters.

RE: Avengers, Marvel just did a new number 1, but it was NOT a reboot. Outside of a new starting point, nothing history wise was restarted.

That said, it still freaking annoyed me. Bendis does this to his powers sereis too, after ever so many issues, he starts a new number 1 and a new volume. Damn, I hate that.

Cap
Thor
Iron Man
Hulk
Spider-Man
Hawkeye
Black Widow
Ms. Marvel

AND EITHER

Luke Cage
Iron Fist

-OR-

Hank Pym
Wasp

Maybe all four of those. but keep it simple.

Marvel does this re-numbering thing ALL the time for sales, DC sort of pulled a marvel with the relaunch, but at least they relaunched it all, even if it was just for sales...like marvel

Get rid of Bendis, and get rid of the $3.99 price tag reducing it to $2.99 an issue.
That's the only way I'll buy The Avengers again.

Just plain dumb. I can understand (though I do not agree with) the idea of resetting the numbering of a comic that is of a high number. To turn around and promptly renumber, reboot, whatever you want to call it, a book so early into a run is just dumb. It is a silly gimmick, almost as dumb as the "decimal" issues not too long ago. The sad thing is, people fall for it.

DC setting the trends like always...

Every time there's a Crisis, Marvel has a War.

Blackest Night and everyone getting a lantern ring, Marvel gives everyone a Thor hammer.

What's next, Mary Jane Watson getting Spider-Powers just like when Lois Lane...? Wait...Too soon? ;)

I actually don't mind this, whenever a title or book gets a new #1 I think it helps especially if its going to have a new set of heroes. Would Ghost Rider make any sense now if they kept the number with the recent new Ghost Rider host. I personally think the Avengers title is too cluttered with so many heroes. The Avengers should be a set roster of 9 heroes, each with their own unique power set, whereas the recent title has 20 members with plenty of similar powers. Hopefully it will become either a new team composed of members less seen or a classic group that fits perfectly. I don't really care about numbering or collecting, I just read it for the characters and escapism. As long its enjoyable, thats all that matters for me

Bendis is an attention whore, he'll just stick Wolverine, Deadpool, Spider-Man, Daredevil and ...let's say Mickey Mouse...Snooki and Justin Beiber in the Avengers.
BooYah
BooYah - 10/10/2011, 7:58 PM
@Intruder- I see your point. If I had to pick 7 I'd probably pick same as yours except replace Scarlet Witch with Wasp. Or at least put her in the S.H.I.E.L.D team. lol @ the S.W.O.R.D that would be a kick ass team but what would S.W.O.R.D stand for?

In the end as long as Vision is in the Avengers I'm happy. He's one of the coolest Avenger characters imo.

Does Bendis have to be hit by a truck before we get a fresh take on the team?
