And he won’t be relying on his fists alone! Armed with the keys to Ares’ abandoned armory, Hercules is ready to unleash three thousand years worth of brawling experience upon his foes while preparing to confront the perils of FEAR ITSELF!

“This ain’t the heavenly spires of Mount Olympus, the plush comforts of Avengers Tower or some hot night club known where the body shots are on the house. Herc’s in the dark alleys of the Marvel Universe—the mean streets of New York,” said Senior Editor Mark Paniccia. “There’s no one to watch his back and, if he doesn’t play it smart, he can be maimed…or even killed. The easy days of life as a god are over.”

It’s Hercules like you’ve never seen him before as he sets out on an action-packed epic of monumental proportions that will keep fans on the edge of their seats and demanding more! Discover what happens when the Earth’s most formidable warrior is forced to cut a swath of destruction through the very core of the Marvel Universe in the all-new, all ruthless Herc #1 & 2 – double-shipping this April!

So we make him one of the strongest beings to ever exist in Marvel U and then we make him a street level character....hmmmm.....not sure if I like...

Although I would prefer Herc with his mace as opposed to that sword, but I will take what Marvel gives me.

Greg Pak wrote the last series, right? I enjoyed what I read of that. I say go for it.

Also, that is a cool new Hobgoblin/Demogoblin they got there.

Oh boy! Just what we need! A dark and gritty hero working the back alleys and kicking bad guy ass with 3000 years of pent-up rage and all manner of weaponry! Marvel doesn't have ANY other heroes that are remotely like this!

The LAST thing we need is a truly funny and likable comic-relief character that's been a favorite of mine for many years. Way to f*ck it up again, Marvel.

Back in the 80s the Herules movie was so disappointing-- Sorry Lou Ferrigno. Now I hope to see an updated movie version of Herc. With today's effects (like Clash of the Titans) the classical tragic story would be really awesome. Ok if not tragic a fun exciting adventure directed by Terry Gilliam would still be awesome.

@LEEE777-
Great idea. At 6'5" he would be perfect. I could see him as Superman but it would be cool to see him in the Lion's skin/armour. Marvel version would also be cool.

@kriswone
Yeah that would also be great.

To be honest I haven't read much Herc comics. Known for being happy go lucky, a darker Hercules would definitely be an interesting direction for this Classical hero. But just like Superman trying to find a formidable opponent for Herc is difficult.

Its got to take more than just dark alleys, updated costume, or mind boggling opponents to make Herc effectively shift personas.

So basicly they did to her what DC did to Wonder Woman?

@ kalabog

He was a hard core drunk in the last mini

If Hercules is that strong, he could build whole CITIES to shelter the homeless, thus diminishing criminality, instead of dealing with the side effects.

@ victor, the majority of the criminal activity that happens in cities, has nothing to do with the homeless (sorry, i see where you're coming though. He's actually supposed to have built the trojan walls, i believe)

But I think its pretty cool, its like what they did to thor. I love Hercules.

@ kalabog:

I've been wanting that for awhile now! I'd like to see him with the helmet from god of war, but wearing some different nemean lion armor.

“There’s no one to watch his back and, if he doesn’t play it smart, he can be maimed…or even killed. The easy days of life as a god are over.”

WTF??? Is he de-powered? And what's up with the sword & shield?
So let me get this straight, he's not a god, he can be killed, uses a sword, and is going to have a darker personality....so basically, THIS IS NOT HERCULES, right????!!!! Might as well call it "Son of a Uncle's Second cousin of a friend of Hercules"

If they are going to do a Hercules series, DO IT RIGHT! I'm all for it...but this sounds like a disaster from the get go.

ThaMessenger07 - 1/27/2011, 6:58 AM
@ mikefont: It sounds like it, which Really Sucks. He would tear any street level character apart.

This is awful :(

Great find though! lol

You guys don't need to be so pessimistic about this. Greg Pak did write the last series that put Hercules back on the Marvel map and really solidified his likable personality. If he thinks he can make a good story with him powered down, than I say give him a chance.
