When X-Men of Apocalypse: Omega #1 hit comic book stores earlier this month, readers were left shocked to learn that one of the Age of Apocalypse X-Men's trips to the main Marvel Universe had only just begun.

Jeph Loeb and Simone Di Meo's epic anniversary series ended with the Gambit of Age of Apocalypse swapping places with his 616 counterpart. Now, the story continues in the previously announced Gambit: Gone limited series by Steve Orlando, Edoardo Audino and Gerardo Sandoval, hitting stands next month.

The saga follows the dual journeys of the two Gambits, with Audino handling the Age of Apocalypse Gambit's quest in the 616. Sandoval, meanwhile, catches up with our Gambit in the dystopian Age of Apocalypse.

Here's the official description for the series, which comes after Gambit took centre stage in X-Men '97 Season 2:

Two worlds. Two Gambits. Two quests. One for redemption...and one for personal gain. In two intertwined tales, Remy LeBeau will face his demons... and the demons of all mutantkind... in an adventure that pushes the limits of the reformed Gambit to their breaking point. What kind of hero will emerge? And face-to-face with different versions of the woman they love—what kind of husband will he prove to be?

Excited to finally shed some light on the full premise of the series, Orlando said, "The news is out! Gambit: Gone takes two Gambits on two radically different adventures in a multiversal swap for the ages! In the aftermath of X-Men of Apocalypse, the Gambit we know has switched places with the Gambit of the Age of Apocalypse—but the true reason for the switch remains a mystery."

"Two Remy LeBeaus are now strangers in strange lands--and both have something to prove. Each has a different mission, but when it's Gambit, you can be sure that both missions are going to be explosive," the Scarlet Witch writer continued. "As one Gambit fights to redeem his worst deed, another fights for a reason to live...after losing what he believes he's always wanted most."
