COMICS: Dan Slott Says We Will Indeed See SPIDER-MAN 2099 Again

Remember when we thought the identity of the Superior Spider-Man was revealed to be Miguel O'Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099? Well obviously that wasn't the case, but according to Dan Slott the character will still appear in the pages of Superior Spider-Man..

MTV Geek have just exclusively revealed that Spider-Man 2099 will be making an appearance in Superior Spider-Man. The site posted a video of Dan Slott confirming as much, which I can't see, or embed..so I guess you'll just have to take our word for it! Here is the txt that accompanies the vid anyway, see it for yourselves by clicking the link at the end of the article.

Hang on to your hats, True Believers -- Dan Slott has a surprise for you! "This is not a trick -- this is not a prank," said Slott, looking mischievously at the camera. The writer confirmed that Miguel O'Hara, also known as Spider-Man 2099, will return within the pages of "Superior Spider-Man."

A while back we reported the rumor that Miguel O'Hara might be suiting up as The Superior Spider-Man based on what appeared to be a Tweet by Dan Slott posted in error - and although we were wrong, it seems the character will at least be a part of the new series. In what capacity? Who knows! Slott probably won't reveal too much more about it, but it's certainly raised my interest level, and it was already pretty high. What about you guys?

I'm excited that they're bringing Spider-Man 2099 back. In my opinion, he is THE Superior Spider-Man because his abilities aren't radiation based, he can shoot organic webs from his upper-forearms, he has retractable talons on his finger-tips, and he has fangs that produces a venom that gives his victims temporary paralysis.

Green Lantern is extremely fortunate to have a writer like Geoff Johns behind it, who made the concept of different Corps and ring bearers WORK.

The concept itself, like TheWalkingDictionary pointed out, is actually ridiculously stupid. I'm saying this in the context of the Hulk series actually, which i read until a while back, and not Spider-Man, but it's at that verge.

I loved the original series in the 90's. The original genetic spidey! The stories were great, the reimagined villains were well-done, new villains rocked, and Rick Leonardi's art kicked butt. While the other 2099 stuff sucked, Spider-Man was truly good

Having Miguel fix things and get Peter back as spider-man again would be fine by me.

So now he wants to throw Spider-Man 2099 in this mess?

Ugh... don't get me wrong, Spider-Man 2099 is awesome. This SSM series isn't, however.

Maybe Ock taking over Peter's body changed the timeline and Miguel knows from his knowledge of past history what has happened. Gets rid of Ock and is trapped in the present becoming the superior spiderman. Until Peter comes back in time for ASM2 movie.

Guess the fan backlash made them change their minds. Hinting at Peter coming back in the first issue is just stupid.
