UNCANNY X-MEN #543
Written by KIERON GILLEN
Art & Cover by GREG LAND
Rated T+ ...$3.99
On Sale in September

In an interview on Marvel.com the series' writer Kieron Gillen states that these teasers are rather literal in which Colossus consults with the demon Cyttorak in an attempt to battle the threat of the newly empowered Juggernaut, currently controlled by the Serpent in Fear Itself and transformed into Kurrth: Breaker of Stone. For those who don't know, Cyttorak's Crimson Bands have long been the source of Juggernaut's powers.

In the article, Gillen describes Colossus and Cyttorak's interaction as "a deal with a devil."

"This is that abstractly good character leading him into a very bad place. The Worthy were all serious threats anyway. With my first arc, ‘Breaking Point,’ I wanted to write something structured to keep the majority of Utopia's inhabitants off the table. The threat was one man with a knife. With this, I wanted to have a threat which could take the best every single X-Man could throw at it. I wanted to underline the word unstoppable until my pen cut through the paper."

"Over on JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY and THOR I've had a lot of experience writing demons and devils of various character; but Cyttorak isn't a demon like Mephisto, all faux-charm and seduction. Cyttorak is a destroyer, a creature of pride and destruction. At the moment, he's sitting and watching the chaos on Earth with what passes for a smile. The fact that the smile passes becomes right at the heart of the story.”

“It’s the same deal as ever: ‘Whosoever touches this gem shall possess the power of the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak! Henceforth, you who read these words, shall become forevermore a human juggernaut!’”

“Though it's not that Piotr is the sort to actually make that deal. Colossus is a character who's always leaned towards sacrificial. He's the sort of person who'll give up something for someone else, no matter what the cost. And this is that abstractly good character leading him into a very bad place."

Between this and killing Bucky, Marvel are getting worse. I'll be dropping a lot of their titles when the DC relaunch comes along.

I think this might actually be pretty cool. With Colossus getting this power upgrade doing battle against the Juggernaut as one of the worthy, It might be very epic. But im not gonna knock it until I see it though.

really...what was wrong with the regular juggernaut

@fearlessmontano: Juggernaut became one of the wielders of the seven Hammers of the Worthy by the Serpent, the evil Asgardian god of fear, and became Kuurth: Breaker of Stone......

Marvel is TOTALLY pwning DC right now. If they keep Sentry involved somehow, I'll probably switch over my monthlies to Marvel storylines.

imagine Colossus in the juggernaut armor...WHOA!!! Cain Marko is an ordinary human possessed by a very powerful mystic weapon. Colossus, on the other hand is a mutant, capable of transforming his body into steel and given superhuman strength. AUGMENTED STRENGTH!!! The Unstoppable Colossus battles Juggernaut, Kurth: Breaker of Stone....hmmm....should be epic.
