Marvel senior vice president of publishing Tom Brevoort spoke to Newsarama about the new series from Rick Remender..

"There are characters who are huge characters, who have been around for decades, and are beloved, that you really haven't seen interact in a meaningful way with one another. This is a place where a lot of that will get to play out. There are not a lot of stories where Captain America and Havok interact in a meaningful way. So Uncanny Avengers will be a place where that sort of thing can happen."

Uncanny Avengers #1 will hit shelves this October.

Cool, can't wait to see more of this

Thats the ugliest cover I've ever seen in my life.

If thats Cassaday's work then it is unrecognizable from the stuff he did in Astonishing X-Men.

@Corddog Agreed. Not too impressed with the cover. Waiting to see more.

Agreed, not the best of covers. I thought Cap was getting an updated uniform?

Havok needs a serious costume overhaul, currently he looks like scorpius from farscape.

Man this is terrible, it was okay when Spidey & Wolverine were alloed to be Avengers, now it seems everyone in the MU is an avenger on 1 of their 937 teams

@blackandyellow I was about to say the same thing.

Definitely had an off day. Im sorry, but if this is what they're putting out in terms of art... I'll go ahead and blow them away with my portfolio haha
Knightrider
Knightrider - 7/5/2012, 1:34 PM
@SteveRogersSon Well for me, he needs to lose that top that looks like it is made out of feathers.

Thor is looking like he has some Avengers movie influence, however has he always had that 'T' on his belt?

CorndogBurglar

I think Cassaday was drunk when he drew this...and high...and drawing with his feet.

@ knightrider

The upper part of Cap's uniform is scale mail armor. it actually serves a purpose.
Stumblin

It almost looks like Romita Jr.

its not that bad, but for one of the best artist in the industry it is.
that being said i still cant wait to pick this up. im sure the art inside the the actual comic will be amazing.

Yeah I've seen much better, and much better from Cassaday but I've also seen much worse. I really don't mind it.

@ csdot

I'm sure it will be too, but that cover...
Stumblin
Stumblin - 7/5/2012, 1:42 PM
It is pretty bad considering what Cassaday is capable of.
Enterlion

Haha, I don't think it's being harsh. If you work for a company like Marvel, you're expected to blow us away with covers. I was told by an artist for them that "only the vets get to do covers", because I was interested in working for them a bunch of years ago before I found a love for tattooing. I just wanted to do covers, I can do sequential art, I just prefer those epic one shot covers.

Remember, they gotta draw you in, that's why the new guys get stuck on lesser books. They want these bigger titles oozing talent. This does not. I could literally draw this in an hour and probably take a few shit breaks I'm between after eating Neatl Burrito, and it'd look better.

Maybe that's too harsh.... He is a great artist (except when he draws Beast... I don't like his furry guy). And he did work on Astonshing... And that was a fantastic title... But this... This cover does not sell Me this book.
AC1
AC1 - 7/5/2012, 1:46 PM
That looks atrocious... Rogue looks like a man, Cap and Thor both look like overweight men wearing muscle-costumes...

Yeah, way to get the hype going, Marvel.
ATrueHero1987
ATrueHero1987 - 7/5/2012, 1:46 PM
I haven't read any of Rick Remender's stuff yet but I think I will give this title a shot.
Knightrider
Knightrider - 7/5/2012, 1:50 PM
@CorndogBurglar Well, if it is armour is is terrible armour, as he is raising his shield to block everything.

Plus my point isn't really about the purpose as they could change the suit and retain armour qualities, heck with the amount of made-up materials in the comic book universe, could be anything that is protective and doesn't look like he was hit with a pillow.
Enterlion
Enterlion - 7/5/2012, 1:51 PM
I got excited about redesigns, I'm hoping they don't ruin too many characters...
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 7/5/2012, 1:57 PM
@ knightrider

I hear ya man. I just don't have a problem with the armor he has because 1)it does kind of look like eagle feathers, which goes with the whole America theme, and 2)not all artists make it stand out as much as this.

Most artists tone it down a bit. But to me, the armor he's wearing is a part of his costume and always should be...at least on the comic page anyway.
Dumegg
Dumegg - 7/5/2012, 1:58 PM
@ knightrider - yes, Thor has always had the "T" on his belt. It is a norse rune.
It stands for tiwaz. Translates into balance and justice. When thor returned and
Inherited asgard from odin, he had a new rune on his belt. It looks like the letter
"n", and stands for Uruz. Its meaning is health and strenght.

Tiwaz i think is a warriors ruin and uruz may simbolize something more complete.
Not just a warrior but a ruler.
Knightrider
Knightrider - 7/5/2012, 2:02 PM
@Dumegg Cheers matey, was just something I just somehow have only noticed now, cheers for the info, appreciated.

@CorndogBuglar Yeah, for me I think he can still stand for America, without having to wear an Eagle, Stars and Strips and an 'A' on his head. However I will be honest and say never really liked the character anyways, so that might be being overly negative about the costume, I guess just looks too dated to me, despite them giving modern reasons for parts of it.
