Never liked Wolverine in The Avengers..other mutants like Beast,Scarlet Witch,Quicksilver were okay.
The fewer mutants the better actually. Stay with X-Men.

Cool cover art.

I'm not a fan of his art. All of his characters have fat awkward heads.

Why the [frick] isn't Hulk in the first cover?

Because truth be told Hulk while he was a founding member in the comics he was part of the team for three issues and then quit the team he even came back and tried to kill the team with Namor in one issue. Throughout the history of the Avengers besides recently he wasn't a part of them I actually see him more a Defender being a founding member of that team and being involved in almost all of their story lines. Captain America is much more a crucial part of the heart of the Avengers hence why he is given honorary founding member status.

@rise217
The Inhuman Crystal with powers over the four elements of Fire, Earth, Wind, and Water married Quicksilver and had a daughter with him.

@Pesmerga who's the girl in the red on that same cover, it can't be Scarlet Witch can it ?

Some good classic stuff here. I will agree though that I'm not a big fan of his art. I've often wondered why he is scared to draw necks. *shrug* They are nice flashbacks to my childhood, although I was more into the FF and X-Men.

Odd that we see Scarlet Witch, but no sign of Quicksilver on any of these covers. I never thought of him as an Avenger that much anyways. Scarlet Witch was always more with The Avengers due to her relationship with The Vision and had a longer run.

Well these are awesome.

isnt the official 50th anniversary of the first Avengers comic on September 10th. and its the X-Men's 50th on the same day too. a truly important date in comics history

Cap has been such a constant with the Avengers.

I'm hoping that now that we have Scarlet Witch showing up in the movies that we will get the Vision.

Sad for the people who can't see mutants interacting with other supers. Get some imagination.

Wolverine and Spider-man brought a new dynamic to a team that has always change members from gods to inhumans to street level fighters to villains.

I understand what people say when they don’t agree with Wolverine and Spiderman being Avengers or Daredevil for that matter. DD and Parker refused membership for years. They whole point in the Avengers was for The Earths Mightiest Heroes to ban together to stop threats that neither could stop on their own. With that in mind Wolverine, Spiderman and Daredevil belong on the team way more than some of their past members.

Just as Jay Sherman told his boss to get his political ad off of his review of Francis Ford Coppola's "Apocalypse WOW!", so I say to the House of Ideas this:

GET THE WALL-CRAWLER AND LOGAN OFF OF THE AVENGERS!!!!!!

These are awesome! It's easy to tell which cover is the 90's Avengers.

@CherryBomb Yah, she does look a lot like Scarlet Witch, but as 1984 already said, she is Sersi:

She looks way different now:

John Cassaday is awesome, but these covers lokks like made by 13 year old artist - real bad!

I especially loved the 1970s Avengers. Great members and good stories. At that time, they made the Justice League look so uninspiring.

@ATrueHero1987 the reason why hulk isn't there because captain america becomes his replacement. the hulk leaves the avengers because loki tricked him in the first place.

read a book son.

yeah, there should be one with the big 4 and spidey and wolverine on the cover together.

@GhostKILLERgx7 um, I know that. I asked because he was in the original line-up. I said nothing about Cap. How about you get your facts straight before being a smart ass...ok?
ATrueHero1987
ATrueHero1987 - 8/16/2013, 9:28 PM
In fact, the hulk didn't leave until the next issue or so. Not because Loki tricked him. He joined The Avengers(for a very breif time of course) and the end of the first issue. So I guess you need to read a book.

What? You didn't like the Thunderstrike character? I thought it was an interesting little spin-off. His character arc was actually pretty nice and ended pretty heroically. "Dildo Mjolnir". That's funny. No wonder Odin put restrictions on who could use/lift the uru hammers.

"Me dammit, Frigga!! You're going to exhaust that thing if you don't quit abusing the bean!! That's IT!! I'm putting a [frick]ing spell on the thing!!"
